20 GOLDEN GREATS!
Bob Downe
Australia's clown prince of polyester is back and funnier than ever in his brand new solo (just the way you like him!) show entitled 20 GOLDEN GREATS!
Yes, BOB DOWNE, who has been making the world laugh more than 25 years is coming back to for the 2012 Adelaide Fringe to sing and swing his way through this new show.
Direct from his triumphant 15th Edinburgh Fringe, BOB says '20 GOLDEN GREATS! is the show where you'll come IN humming the classic pop, disco and rock hits. I give you my solemn promise. There won't be a single song you haven't heard …there’ll be prizes too … AND some surprises!’
The show which will featuring the classic pop, disco and rock hits will play from Thursday 8 Mar – Sat 17th March at 7.00pm Arts Theatre 53 Angas Street Adelaide:
Presented by MARY TOBIN PRESENTS...
‘This is exactly what it'll be like when Jesus comes back. Well, let's hope so anyway. …his repartee is as pin-sharp as his trouser creases ... while belting out his Golden Greats with enough genuine showbiz pizzaz to get practically the whole place singing along’
British Comedy Guide
‘A great Fringe icon has returned... admirably slick... Fun show.’ The Scotsman
‘Like the rest of the audience the Whingers found themselves quite carried away with Mr Downe and his infectious enthusiasm.’ West End Whingers
BOB DOWNE is one of Australia's most loved and enduring comedy characters, the creation of journalist, comedian, actor and broadcaster MARK TREVORROW.
Mark was born in Melbourne in 1959, trained as a journalist at the Herald Sun, and moved to Sydney in 1982 with the huge success of his cabaret group, THE GLOBOS. He created BOB DOWNE in 1984 and has toured the world as the Prince of Polyester ever since. Bob's last production stage show, WORLD WAR BOB, premiered to acclaim at the 2009 Adelaide Cabaret Festival, with a return season at Her Majesty's last April. Bob's most recent TV appearance was hosting the 2010 SYDNEY GAY & LESBIAN MARDI GRAS PARADE broadcast for Foxtel/Arena.
Since 2002, Mark Trevorrow has established a parallel career singing, acting and broadcasting as himself. He is heard regularly on ABC Local Radio and his 2004 nostalgic talkumentary series THE WAY WE WERE was a ratings winner on the national broadcaster. He has also featured regularly on KATH & KIM, as 'Darryl' the menswear salesman, and will appear in the forthcoming KATH & KIM movie.
