Adelaide Fringe 2010 at Holden Street

Adelaide Fringe 2010 at Holden Street

Holden Street Theatres’ (HST) producer Martha Lott says their 2010 Fringe season will be the biggest they have ever presented with seventeen productions from local, interstate and international companies.

The season will be headlined by the Australian premiere of acclaimed 2009 Edinburgh Fringe five-star Award Winner Heroin(e) for Breakfast (UK), recipient of the second HST Edinburgh Award, and the return of the Adelaide University Old Footlighters Club in Be Your Age or Bust.

Presented by HST & Horizon Arts Ltd in association with Richard Jordan Productions Ltd and Ralph Dartford Associates, Heroin(e) for Breakfast by Philip Stokes is a riotous and irreverent look at how heroine can put the Great back into Britain; its part comedy, part farce, part morality tale.

Heroin(e) for Breakfast features Craig McArdle as Tommy the Brit who loves his country and has the T-shirts and underwear to prove it; Kirsty Green as Chloe - the original angry young man (only not a man), Kate Daly as the Tommy worshiping Edie and Hayley Shillito as the glamorous and enticing presence of Heroin in their shabby Northern flat.
Heroin(e) for Breakfast contains, sex scenes and coarse language. The performance runs for 70 minutes.

‘… terrific theatre’ The Stage

‘one of the finest pieces at this year's Edinburgh Fringe’ the Fringe Review

‘Heroin(e) is an astonishingly intelligent piece of work. …Sexy, funny and yet truly horrible, Heroin(e) For Breakfast is made all the more compelling by some genuinely superlative performances.’ The Fest

Heroin (e) for Breakfast plays in The Studio 34 Holden Street Hindmarsh16- 18, 20, 22 - 27 Feb at 9.00pm; Feb 21 at 7.30pm, 28 Feb, 6 March 4.00pm; 2 -6 March, 8 -14 March 7.45pm. Tickets are priced from $20.00 to $25.00 and may be purchased from FringeTIX online and at the door.

Be Your Age or Bust returns for the last time after sell-out seasons in 2006 and 2008. In 2010 the line-up of mature-age stirrers includes former Premier John Bannon, Bob Lott, Rob Morrisson, Ed Pegge, Richie Gun, Margie Hill, Margie Butcher, Kitty Gilchrist and Tisha Brown and more. Directed by Wayne Anthoney Be Your Age or Bust revives the glorious University Revue tradition of 80 years as the cast romp through the night with music, biting satire and that wry look at life that only advanced years can provide…no politician or institution is safe.

Be Your Age or Bust plays from 17 – 18 Feb 7.30pm; 19-20, 22-27 Feb at 7.30pm in The Studio, 34 Holden Street Hindmarsh. Tickets are priced from $16.00 (preview) to $24.50 and may be purchased from FringeTIX online and at the door.
