All star line up set to play Sydney from March 12
Lisa McCune, Marina Prior, Ian Stenlake, Garry McDonald, Shane Jacobson and Magda Szubanski stars of Melbourne's acclaimed production of GUYS AND DOLLS have been signed to appear for a strictly limited 12 week season at the Capitol Theatre Sydney. After a successful 20 week season at Melbourne's Princess Theatre, the record breaking Olivier Award winning West End musical with a cast of 30 and an orchestra of 14 will open March 12.
'When I saw the show in London, with its star cast, I wondered how we would cast it for Australia. What we’ve got is better than I could have imagined and to have them agree to star in the Sydney season is terrific news for us,' said co-producer Jason Marriner.
This sharp, sexy and contemporary version of GUYS AND DOLLS is an enduring, endearing classic. Based on Damon Runyon's famous short stories and set in 1940's New York, small-time gambler Nathan Detroit bets his big time pal Sky Masterson that he can't make the next woman he sees fall in love with him. When the next doll happens to be the neighbourhood missionary Sarah Brown, the stage is set for an unforgettable evening's entertainment. Featuring the hit musical numbers If I Were a Bell; I've Never Been in Love Before; Take Back Your Mink; Sue Me; Adelaide's Lament; Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat and Guys and Dolls.
