Simon Davey leads the cast with charisma, determination and eminence. His depiction of Antony is poignant, a middle-aged man on an emotional roller-coaster. Adelaide Theatre Guide
Brant Eustice has directed a good, clear production of Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra at the Little Theatre for the University of Adelaide Theatre Guild. It concentrates on the action and could be, without prejudice, a Boys' Own version. Radio Adelaide
BRANT Eustice is a director who understands Shakespeare... His realisation of Antony and Cleopatra is a bold, incisive retelling of this monumental saga of lust, love, conquest and betrayal... Simon Davey and Emily Branford manage to deliver the tortured passion and grand scheming of the mutually-destructive lovers. Nicholas Ely is well-suited to the role of the calculating Octavius Caesar, realising Rome may have only one ruler. There's also great work from Gary George as Antony's reliable lieutenant, Enobarbus, loyal until his final fault. *** (three stars) Adelaide Now
