In Australia, over 4,200 businesses, and 1,100 schools and universities registered their participation using our website.
This year, more than ever supporters showed how globally connected we are by sharing their Earth Hour moments online.

Earth Hour is here again!
Earth Hour 2009 was a highly successful event.
This year, Earth Hour was on Saturday 27th March at 8:30PM.
During Earth Hour, people throughout Australia and around the world will turn off their lights for one hour to send a powerful message to global leaders that we need action on climate change, now.
Earth Hour is all about showing that together we can make change. We are each just one person, but together we are powerful.

Earth Hour Australia 2010
Earth Hour is a WWF Australia initiative that started in 2007 and has spread around the world. In 2009, over 4,000 towns in 88 countries took part.
Earth Hour is a positive message of hope and action, emphasising what people can do when they act together. This year, the message is 'Earth Hour, Every Hour'.
This mantra is to remind us that we all need to make the switch to a sustainable lifestyle, every hour of every day, not just during Earth Hour.
This video shows famous landmarks around the world turning out their lights, from the Colosseum in Rome to the Pyramids of Egypt.
