Location: Brisbane
As the editor, the successful applicant will be responsible for driving the editorial direction of Queensland Pride. Passionate and dynamic, the editor will be generating compelling content that meets the editorial standards of Evolution Publishing, as well as managing a team of dedicated freelance contributors. Based in Evolution Publishing's Brisbane office, and reporting directly to the Publisher, the editor will also work closely with production and advertising teams to ensure the magazine meets its publishing requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* The on-time delivery of editorial content ranging from news, features, interview and lifestyle articles
* The ability to spot a story and generate ideas that meets Evolution Publishing's editorial standards
* Managing a team of freelance contributors, as well as working closely with editorial staff
* Managing editorial budgets and meeting tight deadlines
* Cultivating and fostering strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and community organisations
* Representing Queensland Pride at corporate functions and community events
KEY CRITERIA:
* Degree or tertiary qualifications in a related field eg. Media, Communications or Journalism
* Strong editorial background with experience in news, feature and/or magazine writing (you will need to provide samples of published work)
* Demonstrated experience in print media and/or magazine publishing
* Excellent oral and written skills with exceptional grasp of grammar, spelling and syntax
* Prior subediting experience will be highly regarded
* An ability to meet editorial budgets and deliver high-quality content under tight deadlines
* An ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
* Effective organisational and task-management skills
* An excellent knowledge of Queensland's diverse gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities
* A clear understanding of issues relevant to the GLBT community
