Bring your band to Face The Music 2011, happening in Melbourne at the Arts Centre on November 18 and 19!
The fourth annual Face The Music conference provides attendees direct access to industry personnel and current professional level information. There will also be opportunities for attendees to develop the skills needed to operate competitively in the Australian music market.
Over 100 of Australia’s most influential music figures will be under the one roof, such as Glenn Dickie (EMI Music Australia), Dom Alessio (Triple J), Heath Bradby (Warner Music), representatives from iconic live music venues The Tote, Pony, Revolver, Toff In Town and the Corner, and some of Australia’s best music managers Bill Cullen (The Drones, Paul Kelly, Sarah Blasko), Mark Richardson (Bertie Blackman, Kimbra), Correne Wilkie (The Cat Empire) and Ted Gardner (Barrel House, Floating Me).
Leading musicians and songwriters will lend their time of offer first-hand advice; Paul Mac, Georgia Fields, Jen Cloher, Johnny Toogood (Shihad), Henry Wagons and Jarrad Brown (Eagle & The Worm), and key music support agencies Music Victoria, Association Of Artist Managers, APRA and PPCA will be there to offer their advice.
This year the conference also hosts a list of representatives from booking agencies and festivals who can give the information needed to take your music to overseas markets. Special guests include Brent Grulke (Artistic Director of South By South West, US) and Malcolm Haynes (Glastonbury Music Festival, UK).
To maximise the benefit that Face The Music can have for your band, get all members and associated parties along, and split up into the various concurrent sessions. This way you will cover all of the information presented on all panels and workshops and you'll have plenty to talk about at the next band practice.
