SOLAR MUSIC FESTIVAL 2009
Saturday 3 January - Mornington Racecourse
Mark January 3rd in your diary as the date of your new favourite summer holiday party Solar Music Festival. Held at the Mornington Racecourse, the inaugural event will present the finest home grown talent from rock to dance, hip hop to folk, over three stages. We are pleased to announce the following acts for this brand new Australian event.
The all-Australian bill is headed up by power duo THE PRESETS. They swept the Aria Awards with their acclaimed second album Apocalpso, and were recently crowned "Best Festival Act in Australia". We are please that they will be closing out the party on a high, playing a slew of their now classic tunes 'This Boys In Love', 'Are You The One' and 'My People' to name a few.
While The Presets bring sound and light, PNAU's Nick Littlemore and Peter Mayes add costumes, colour and their own set of monster hits to the Solar stage.
KISSCHASY play the part of the local heroes. This is your chance to help kick off what should be a big 2009 for the boys from the Peninsula. YOU AM I have just released their eighth album and are a truly iconic Australian rock band. Few have the swagger, the tunes or just what it takes to be going this long and still be that bloody good.
Hailing from Bondi, N.S.W, COG are well familiar with a beachside suburb. Prepare for one of the tightest units in Oz as they tear the non-existent roof off the racecourse. Also from Sydney but from another musical dimension altogether, JOSH PYKE writes perfectly crafted folk-pop, ideal for bathing in the afternoon summer sun. THE BEAUTIFUL GIRLS are also set to deliver their feel good blend of blues, roots, hip hop and reggae to ease you into the new year.
Get ready to get sweaty as Bang Gang front man AJAX brings the jams to the dance floor proving why is so often referred to as the best DJ in Australia. MC Muphin and DJ/Producer Plutonic Lab joined forces back in 2004 to form the inimitable combination that is MUPH N PLUTONIC. One of the premiere Australian Hip Hop live acts, they will be bringing the beats and rhymes to Solar Music Festival, as will PHRASE who is back with his no frills brand of OZ Hip Hop and a hot new single Clockwork.
Melbourne's TRIAL KENNEDY have been heralded as one of the most exciting new Australian Rock bands. Fresh off a tour supporting Butterfly Effect around the country, come and see why these guys are blowing up worldwide with their hard hitting power pop. Visceral rock trio CALLING ALL CARS will make an equally loud impression with their energetic brand of rock and explosive live show.
TV ROCK's Grant Smilie and Ivan Gough will shake up a musical cocktail to please any music lover at the Solar dance stage, while SNOB SCRILLA will keep the crowd pumped with his indie hip hop jams, including the song that garnered national attention this year, There You Go Again. One man band aptly titled THAT 1 ONE will leave you jaw dropped with his madcap lyrics and bombastic grooves.
All this and much more await you on January 3rd 2009 at the very first SOLAR MUSIC FESTIVAL at the Mornington Racecourse.
