Lilith Lane ~ Winter
LILITH LANE, in various incarnations has been part of the Australian music underground for over twelve years. If you have frequented Melbourne's live music haunts, it is likely you've seen her pounding piano, strumming guitar, or lending a backing vocal to various bands most recently as permanent member of international touring act Black Pony Express.
In early 2007, LILITH LANE marked the beginning of her solo venture by unleashing her material on an unsuspecting Melbourne audience. Playing on either guitar or piano, these songs were whipped into shape live before recording (with full band) her self-titled debut album. Recorded live-to tape, including lead vocals, over a three-day period in Melbourne's Bakehouse studios in March 2007, LILITH’S style blends roots, soul and rock sensibilities.
LILITH LANE is an emerging artist who delivers lyrical, honest, finely crafted tunes. From stadium arenas to pokey Parisian venues, LILITH LANE is a diverse musician, songwriter and performer. Her talents have been utilised on album recordings and in live accompaniment of artists such as Angie Hart, Horsestories, Quincy McLean/Blue Ruin, Clinkerfield, George Byrne, The Cam Butler Orchestra, The Roys, Devastations, Ron Peno, The Ukeladies and numerous Australian music veterans in the Countdown Spectacular.
With LILITH on guitar, piano and vocals; PETER LUSCOMBE (Paul Kelly band. RocKwiz) on drums; BILL McDONALD (Paul Kelly band, Angie Hart band, Four Hours Sleep) on bass; PHIL GIONFRIDDO (Dynamo, Jacky Winter, Spencer P Jones) on guitar; JUSTIN CUSACK (Black Pony Express) guitars and vocals; and AMANDA ROFF (the Ukeladies) on vocals....the result is bittersweet, warm, spacious and sometimes straight-out nasty.
Following the albums release in May – which has received enamoured reviews and continues too – July 24th marks the release of the single Winter – available as a free download from 24/07/08 – 14/08/08 via www.lilithlane.com in celebration of Lilith’s Holly Smoke tour -

The intimacy, honesty and rasp….prevents this album from becoming just another blushing homage to Nick Cave. It’s refreshingly genuine. – David Craddock, Perth
