GUITAR LEGEND SANTANA
RETURNS TO AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND

In Concert with his Guitar Heaven Tour

Tuesday 30th November, 2010
Chugg Entertainment today announces that come March, one of the greatest musicians and legendary guitarists of our generation is set to ignite Australian & New Zealand shores. Toting a style that defies definition, immediately recognizable yet unlike any other, Santana's fusion of Latin rock, blues, soul and jazz comes in full swing on stage in a way that transcends time and the limits of genre typecasting.

The GUITAR HEAVEN TOUR begins on Sunday 13th March at Sandalford Estate Swan Valley in Perth, followed by Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday 16th March, and then the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Thursday 17th March before heading to New Zealand for shows at Vector Arena in Auckland on Sunday 20th March and Christchurch's CBS Canterbury Arena on Tuesday 22nd March.

The tour then heads back to Australia for a performance at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Thursday 24th March, then Sydney's Acer Arena on Friday 25th March.

The tour then concludes with a very special performance at Hope Estate in the Hunter Valley on Saturday 26th March, where Santana will be joined by very special guests The Doobie Brothers.

For forty years and as many albums later, Santana has sold more than 90 million records and reached more than 100 million fans at concerts worldwide. To date, Santana has won ten Grammy® Awards, including a record-tying nine for a single project, 1999's Supernatural (including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for "Smooth"). In 1998, the group was ushered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, whose web page on their induction notes, "Guitarist Carlos Santana is one of rock's true virtuosos and guiding lights." Among many other honours, Carlos Santana has also been cited by Rolling Stone as #15 on their list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time." His newest CD, GUITAR HEAVEN…THE GREATEST GUITAR CLASSICS OF ALL TIMES (ARISTA) (featuring "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"), was released in late September 2010. Celebrating this chart debut, Santana joins the ranks of the Rolling Stones as the only musical act in chart history to score at least one Top 10 album in every decade beginning with the 1960s. GUITAR HEAVEN…is Santana's 29th Billboard Top 200 charting release, 12th Top 10 album debut and third Top 10 debut in the past 5 years.

Since its #5 debut on the Australian charts GUITAR HEAVEN has achieved gold status. It was produced by Howard Benson, Matt Serletic, Clive Davis and Carlos Santana who devised a list of guitar-centric titles – and then invited a who's who of guest vocalists to perform on every track. Singers range from Chris Cornell (on Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love"), India.Arie and Yo Yo Ma (on the album's first single "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"), Pat Monahan (on Van Halen's "Dance the Night Away"), Chester Bennington and Ray Manzarek (on The Doors' "Riders on the Storm"), Rob Thomas (on Cream's "Sunshine Of Your Love), Scott Weiland (on the Rolling Stones' "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'"), Chris Daughtry (on the album's current single Def Leppard's "Photograph"), Gavin Rossdale (on T. Rex's "Bang A Gong"), rapper Nas (on AC/DC's "Back In Black"), veteran Joe Cocker (on Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing"), and more.

There are few artists of this caliber, and fewer opportunities to see them live. Do not miss the chance to see one of the most enduring guitar legends in March 2011.

Cyndi Lauper

Cyndi Lauper was the first artist to have five top ten singles from a debut album which included her mega hit Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Cyndi has sold 25 million albums, received 13 Grammy nominations, two Emmy Awards, two American Music Awards, and 18 MTV Video Music Awards and continues to lead as a singer, songwriter, musician, actress, and activist.

With her recent album Memphis Blues, a collection of blues cover songs, she is once again reinventing herself by putting her unique twist on one of music’s most beloved genres. The collection of blues cover songs ranges from the harmonica blues ballad Just Your Fool to Don’t Cry No More, originally a hit for Bobby “Blue” Bland. Memphis Blues has been at the top pf the Blues charts for several weeks.

"Australia is one of my favorite places and I am looking forward to visiting again in early 2011,” said Cyndi Lauper. “We always have a great time when we come to Australia."

Her 2008 studio album, dance-oriented, Grammy-nominated Bring Ya to the Brink, featured collaborations with a cadre of cutting-edge producers and spawned two No. 1 Billboard Hot Dance Club Play singles. In 2009, the long-time actress appeared on such red-hot television shows as 30 Rock, Gossip Girl, Bones, and American Idol (performing with contestant Allison Iraheta), and was a surprise guest at the resurrected concert event VH1 Divas. BRISBANE HIP EMCEE PROFECY

November 5th 2010 03:41
BRISBANE HIP EMCEE PROFECY LAUNCHES
“LET THE MUSIC PLAY” EP

Australian Hip Hop is growing strong and growing with it is Brisbane emcee Profecy. The 20 year old is just about to unleash his debut CD titled "Let The Music Play", a 5-track EP, showcasing the versatility and talent of what people are claiming to be the most promising artist in Australian hip hop.

On the production side of things, Profecy has collaborated with up and coming Belgium producer Benno (Cam’ron, SAS). With Benno's world class production and Profecy’s vibrant delivery and insightful lyrics, you have a ground breaking EP that is bound to turn heads. The EP also features american singer/producer 'DJ Corbett' who has recently featuring on hip hop heavyweight Saigon's brand new single "I Want It All".

This is not your average aussie hip hop release, this is far from it. "My goal when creating this EP was to create something that differs from all other Australian hip hop, something exciting and musical, not just lackluster vocals over boom bap beats, which seems to be the trend". From humorous party tracks to emotional tales of heartbreak, this EP showcases the very best of a very promising artist.

"Let The Music Play" is scheduled for release on November 9th and will be available for free download via www.profecymusic.com.

To celebrate the release of his upcoming EP "Let The Music Play", Profecy will host a launch show at Step Inn on Saturday, 11th of December with the EP being played in its entirety, along with some old and brand new songs.

Special guests performing with Profecy include Cheyenne who has performed alongside Robbie Williams, Michael Buble and Rene Geyer, will also be on stage performing his upcoming collaboration with Profecy and a cover song.

Cam Bluff, one half of Vegas Aces, will be holding it down on the turntables. The man has produced for Spit Syndicate, The Tongue and The Optimen and on the night we will be premiering a song from Profecy’s next release, produced by Bluff.

Jae Druitt and Jealous Citty, close friends and fellow emcees will also be rocking the mic alongside Profecy, performing nothing but bangers!

Mos Def began his music career, forming the short-lived group Urban Thermo Dynamics (UTD) with his younger brother DCQ and his younger sister Ces. Signed to Payday Records, the group only released two singles but in 1996, Def emerged as a solo artist, working with De La Soul and Da Bush Babees before releasing his own first single, “Universal Magnetic” which was a huge underground hit. After signing with Rawkus Records, he and Talib Kweli released a full length album under the band name Black Star.

As a solo artist he has released the albums ‘Black on Both Sides’ in 1999, ‘The New Danger’ in 2004, ‘True Magic’ in 2006 and ‘The Ecstatic’ in 2009. In recent news, for his next album, Def has just signed on with Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music imprint. (Via Consequence of Sound.) West and Mos have collaborated several times, most recently on the G.O.O.D. Friday track "Lord Lord Lord". Mos has taken on something of a spiritual adviser role for Kanye as of late -- in a recent Tweet about his "Power" remix verse Kanye wrote, "Mos helped me find the 'old me' lyrically."

Initially recognized for his musical output, Mos Def’s screen work since the early 2000s has established him as one of only a handful of rappers who have garnered critical approval for their acting work. Brown Sugar, Monster’s Ball, The Italian Job, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and the HBO made-for-TV film Something The Lord Made have been particularly acclaimed by critics.

Barrelhouse
Announce Brand New Single No Hope
& Accompanying National Tour

Many young bands claim the ‘road warriors’ title but very few can hold such a claim up to the light the way Port Macquarie based blues / rock / roots 3 piece Barrelhouse can. Including support slots for the likes of Ani DiFranco, Blue King Brown, Jeff Lang, Mama Kin and Ash Grunwald, from east coast to west coast the last two years alone has seen the band play over 200 shows.

The Barrelhouse story begins in late 2008. The band sent a self confessed “crappy demo” into triple J. Roots n All started spinning it and within weeks the band was handpicked by the station as their ‘unearthed’ act to open the main stage of Coffs Harbour’s Open Arms Festival ( w’Grinspoon, Gyroscope, Mammal, TZU and many more).

Strong Triple J airplay around the unearthed win sent them to the top of the Triple J Unearthed ‘roots’ charts which, combined with a swift rising reputation on the North Coast live scene, led straight into a slots at Festival Of The Sun (Port Macquarie) and the East Coast Blues n Roots festival (Byron Bay). The ever increasing attention also saw the band sign with management company ‘Cross Section’, run by co directors Scott Mesiti (Director of Festival Of The Sun) and Ted Gardiner (manager of ‘The Brian Jonestown Massacre’).

Just surfaced from 301 studio’s in Byron Bay, the band are now proud to present No Hope, the first single to be lifted from their forthcoming debut album “Species Vagabond”, which is due for release early 2011.

Says front-man Dwayne Cameron:

“Species Vagabond covers all of the usual topics; lost love, lust, hopelessness, travelling, sticking it to the man and not having enough money. ‘No Hope’ was actually the last song we wrote for the album and didn’t really finish it till we got to the studio. It’s about being in the music industry and the feeling of hopelessness you get when you think of how long and hard you have worked towards your goal, how many sacrifices you have made, and yet in the eyes of a lot of people you are still considered a bum for not having a “real Job”

The truth is though, it's these people's comments that drive us harder. We actually have the best job in the world, travelling, festivals, meeting different people and not having any dreams in life because we're living them."

In true Barrelhouse Style the band have announced an absolute mammoth No Hope single launch tour that will see them criss cross the entire country right up into January @:

Lemonheads Nov/Dec Tour

September 30th 2010 07:14
Lemonheads fans rejoice as the US trio return to Australia this November and December to perform Evan Dando's classic masterpiece, It's A Shame About Ray, in its entirety!

In addition to the thirteen songs off - Ray , the band will also play a selection of favourites from their other eight releases.

The Lemonheads fifth album is as infectious today as it was when it was released in 1992.

18 years on, the 30 minute blast of pure pop perfection is still considered by many critics to be the bands greatest album to date.

Much of the album was written in Australia, Dando's home away from home, stemming singles Confetti, My Drug Buddy and It's A Shame About Ray. It was re-released later that year to include one of the bands most commercially successful songs Mrs. Robinson.

Lemonheads
It's a shame about Ray

The band first performed the album front to back in 2005 as part of the All Tomorrow's Parties curated Don't Look Back series, playing two instantly sold out shows in London. Following the 2008 deluxe remastered reissue of - Ray, complete with bonus demos, B-sides and a DVD of documentary Two Weeks In Australia, the band toured the album for several months throughout the US and Europe. Itʼs now time for Australian fans to get nostalgic as The Lemonheads bring It's A Shame About Ray back to where it all began.

"It's A Shame About Ray, the second major label offering from the outfit built around singer, guitarist, writer Evan Dando is their best yet. From the understated noise pop of Confetti to the appealing discordance of Rudderless to the warm, acoustic solemnity of My Drug Buddy, Lemonheads prove themselves masters at the pop art of taking a simple musical idea and maximising it to thrilling, melodious effect." Q Magazine

"A perfect pop album, its 12 songs had the vibrancy of US powerpop, the mellowness of country rock, the loud guitars of grunge, the impatience of punk and the lyrical concision and perfectly-observed detail of a Ray Davies or early Elvis Costello. And the whole thing was washed in a sweet, dopey, lazy sunniness that gave warmth to everything it touched, and belied the precision and focus of the songwriting." Mojo
