The Bug w Warrior Queen

December 9th 2008 23:08
The Bug w Warrior Queen, Rhythm n Sound w Tikiman play the Beck's Festival Bar on Saturday January 24!

VOID, Civil Society and Sydney Festival are proud to present the debut Australian performances of two of the most prolific and unmistakable outfits in electronic music, The Bug featuring Warrior Queen and the legendary, mysterious German techno dub collective Rhythm & Sound - the creative force behind Basic Channel, Chain Reaction and Maurizio.

On Saturday January 24, The Beck’s Festival Bar is set to erupt into a sonic field of deep, dark and brilliant future dub. London/Jamaican act The Bug featuring Warrior Queen debut with their mix of Ragga, Dancehall, Hip Hop and Garage set to Dubstep and Grime arrangements. Berlin outfit Rhythm & Sound’s stripped down, rootsy, hi-tech dub/techno has earned them legendary status. Joining Mark Ernestus (half of Rhythm & Sound, Basic Channel and Maurizio with Moritz Von Oswald) is their regular collaborator the enigmatic Dominican vocalist Tikiman (aka Paul St. Hilaire).

To compliment this unique ensemble of artists is a stellar local line-up. Mark Pritchard representing the Warp Record label, Sub Bass Snarl, Victim and Garage Pressure team up with vocalist’s Steve Spacek and Ozi Batla to make Saturday January 24 at Beck’s bar the biggest date on the calendar this summer.

Saturday 24th January 2009.
Becks Festival Bar, Hyde Park Barracks.

Go Set | going on tour

October 2nd 2008 03:37
When singer/songwriter J. Keenan and bassist Mark Moran formed The Go Set in 2003, it seemed only natural to combine the elements of the music they had grown up on. Having both been brought up on everything from traditional celtic and folk music, to early seventies punk rock, and with a voice for political perspective and social conscience, The Go Set embarked on a unique musical journey. Combining the folk elements of the bagpipes, accordion, and mandolin, with distorted punk guitars and a rock n roll ethos, The Go Set created a sound and direction all its own...

GERARD MASTERS TRIO | On Tour!

October 2nd 2008 01:20
Following the successful launch of his highly praised third album Pendulum earlier this year, Gerard Masters takes his trio on a lightning five cities in five days tour around the country.
