Doll Domination Tour 2009

The Pussycat Dolls – Doll Domination Tour 2009
With very special guest Lady GaGa

Teasing and tantalizing Australia with brief but dazzling appearances in Sydney and Melbourne last month, global pop superstars Pussycats Dolls will bring their Doll Domination Tour to Australia in May 2009!

Hot on the heels of their second album release Doll Domination (Universal), Pussycat Dolls kick off their 2009 world tour in the UK before heading down under to play all-ages arena shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth featuring the same spectacular production that Europe will see in February.

This scorching band of singer/dancers have quickly become without doubt one of the most popular and globally successful girl groups ever.

There has been no escape from the super catchy Platinum hit “When I Grow Up”, the first single lifted from Doll Domination, quickly followed by the top 10 hit “I Hate This Part”.

Showing their brand of hot, confident attitude, Pussycat Dolls shot to fame in 2005 with the release of their massive debut single “Don’t Cha” featuring Busta Rhymes, hitting number 1 in charts around the world.

Released the same year, their debut album PCD has sales of over 7 million worldwide, claiming Platinum and Gold status in 36 countries. PCD features the huge hits “Buttons”, the Grammy nominated “Stickwitu”, “Beep”, and “Wait A Minute”, helping to bring the album’s Australian sales to 3 times Platinum.

Joining the bill is Lady GaGa. Performing intimate, exclusive club shows in Melbourne and Sydney last September, singer, songwriter, musician Lady GaGa thrilled fans lucky enough to attend! Showcasing her Top 10 album The Fame, the debut release now boasts two infectious Number 1 singles – “Just Dance”, and “Poker Face” which is currently residing at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart.

José González | Tour February 2009

November 24th 2008 06:10
José González
Australian Tour February 2009

In a live setting José and his band are nothing short of mesmerizing, and they return to Australia in February 2009 for a run of intimate theatre and small venue shows.

José González

The music of José González is hardly reminiscent of fireworks and confetti, but that is exactly how his last two albums have been received all over the world. His low-voiced, serious and introverted music has been hugged to death by everyone from the indie crowd to grizzled old folk fans, resulting in gold record sales, festival appearances and several sold out tours in Australia.

In his teens José learned to play classical guitar, but it was some time later whilst serving a tenure in a couple of hardcore bands that he began to produce his own amazing spin on introspective acoustic music. This range of expression, or perhaps better explained as this contradiction in expression, says a lot about José as a person, and about his music. On the one hand it's very accessible, beautiful and speaks easily, and on the other it has a darkness and seriousness that often borders on what might be considered unhealthy.

Daz Chandler - Daniel Kitson

August 25th 2008 05:47

Quite a good deal of out and out fun from hostess with the mostess; I like to call her Dazzle, but really it's Daz Chandler doing her usual wonderful best interviewing a comedian notorious for being difficult to interview.

Notice he (Daniel Kitson) is delightedly streaming out all sorts of insightful insights into himself as a natural chap rather than living up to the oft uber serious reports that suggest he hates being interviewed.

Great work!!

More of Daz Chandler's work can be heard by going to the podcasts at Sydney's 2SER FM, one of the greater sized and resourced community radio stations in New South Wales, Australia.

BEATS WORKING Tour Dates

July 23rd 2008 04:22
BEATS WORKING
ANNOUNCE NEW TOUR DATES

Best way to describe Beats Working? Spontaneous, orchestrated, brilliant, yet unpredictable!

If you don’t know who Beats Working are, they are a fresh new band that take the definition of hip hop to a whole new level, attracting the attention of industry heavyweights and record labels as well as building a solid local following.

Beats Working is a musical collaboration between Handsome Dan, (Dan Leaver) JB aka 1 (James Branson -previously Kid Confucius), with MC Mullut, (Tullum Delaney) and DJ Helmy (Tim Helmy) who have been feverishly brewing in a basement in the hills surrounding Coffs Harbour since early 2007.

Taking inspiration from a diverse range of artists such as Oz hip hop stalwarts like The Hoods and the Herd, to American pioneers like The Roots and Gnarls Barkley, through to the whole spectrum of pop music such as The Beatles and Goldfrapp. Beats Working are constantly crossing genres blending hip hop with a few cheeky samples that even Mum remembers.

Set for release on July 30 through Obese Records, the band’s debut, Harbour Drive, is set to take them to a whole new national audience. Across 14 magnificent tracks, Beats Working create a sound that is instantly recognisable, setting funk, soul, and pop on a collision course with ambitious lyrics, solid string and brass sections and dynamic arrangements. They are lyrically clever covering numerous aspects of life like parties, women, highs, lows and everything that encompasses the life of a twenty something in Australia. Musically, Beats Working have developed their own patented sound that nods its roots in traditional Aussie hip hop (Mad Sip and Exercise) but isn't afraid to be different and expand its versatility and potential; a la mashed up experimental soul (The Piece, One More Reason), orchestral hip hop (Confessions of a Mallrat, Devil's Food) and even some alternative country and rock (first single Hey Lena with guitarist Phil Emmanuel). Previous Triple J single, Exercise has already shown potential, being shortlisted from 250 entrants, in the top 5 of the wotnext.com competition, a nationwide initiative led by Kram from Spiderbait to search for Australia's top unsigned talent.

In under 12 months, Beats Working have built a strong and loyal fan base in Newcastle and the North Coast, headlined their own shows from Coffs to Thredbo and impressively supported the best Oz hip hop business such as The Herd, Casual Projects, Nikkita & The Tongue, Pegz & DJ Bonez, Scott Burns & A-Love. The band also played at ‘the sold out, Groovin The Moo Festival (Maitland, April 2008) alongside Katalyst, Resin Dogs and The Presets.

While some bands may prefer to specialise in one sound, the musically ambitious collective of Beats Working take it a step further. Whether dishing up an energetic live set or wafting through your home stereo their quick- witted rhythms and rhymes are guaranteed to make you bounce!

“Blending a clever mix of upbeat influences, they’re set to join the growing ranks of Aussie beat-meisters to successfully assault mainstream charts… sharp beats and rhythms that make a bee-line for the central nervous system…Original and imaginative…” (Forte Mag #427)

Beats Working debut album, Harbour Drive, in-stores July 30 through Handsome Records/Obese Records
