José González | Tour February 2009

November 24th 2008 06:10
José González
Australian Tour February 2009

In a live setting José and his band are nothing short of mesmerizing, and they return to Australia in February 2009 for a run of intimate theatre and small venue shows.

José González

The music of José González is hardly reminiscent of fireworks and confetti, but that is exactly how his last two albums have been received all over the world. His low-voiced, serious and introverted music has been hugged to death by everyone from the indie crowd to grizzled old folk fans, resulting in gold record sales, festival appearances and several sold out tours in Australia.

In his teens José learned to play classical guitar, but it was some time later whilst serving a tenure in a couple of hardcore bands that he began to produce his own amazing spin on introspective acoustic music. This range of expression, or perhaps better explained as this contradiction in expression, says a lot about José as a person, and about his music. On the one hand it's very accessible, beautiful and speaks easily, and on the other it has a darkness and seriousness that often borders on what might be considered unhealthy.

FUTURE OF THE LEFT
East Coast Tour - January 09

FUTURE OF THE LEFT

January 2009 Australian Tour cancelled!

Future of the Left have sadly had to cancel their forthcoming Australian tour due to recording commitments. The band have issued the following statement:

"We are unfortunately having to pull all shows for the foreseeable future. This is because our busy year has meant we have been unable to write the second record and we are increasingly aware of the need to do so. We want to get it out before summer so we can spend next year playing it to people. It is against everything the band stands for to pull shows, or anything that we have already committed to doing, and we apologise to everyone who had bought a ticket or was going to come along. We will be back as soon as we can next year and we promise to make it worth the wait."

Handsome Tours hope to reschedule these dates for later in 2009.

Refunds for the cancelled shows (listed below) are available from the point of purchase.

Meredith Music Festival

September 17th 2008 14:02

"Pure Genius"
Rolling Stone

Adam Green will be leaving his New York home this December to perform at the Meredith Music Festival, along with three headline shows around the country promoting his fifth solo album, “Sixes & Sevens”.

Adam’s irreverent wit and pop sensibilities were established early on as a teenager with his first band, the much loved Anti-Folk heroes MOLDY PEACHES. Formed with his bunnysuit-wearing-partner-in- crime Kimya Dawson (Adam sported a Robin Hood costume at the time), the band captivated critics and won fans around the world, while propelling New York’s Anti-Folk scene to international prominence. Both Adam and Kimya experienced a resurgence earlier this year when the Peaches were featured on the soundtrack of hit indie film, JUNO, including the anti-love song duet between Adam Green and Kimya Dawson, “Anyone Else But You”.

Adam went on to experience success as a solo artist, a career that is now five albums deep. It was Adam’s second solo album “Friend Of Mine” released in 2003 that revealed his innate ability to pen a truly off-kilter folk song, including the single “Jessica” a comic ode to Jessica Simpson that can still make you simultaneously chuckle and weep. It’s no wonder MOJO referred to him as an "unexpectedly rich talent". And Julian Casablancas of THE STROKES says of Adam: “It always amazes me how he can express such deep meaning with such twisted humor. Adam is eccentric and down-to-earth, with new found technical proficiency over a wider spectrum of styles. I love it.”

His latest album “Sixes & Sevens” was released in March 2008 on Rough Trade Records.

Catch Adam Green at one of the following shows around the country this December:

Daz Chandler - Daniel Kitson

August 25th 2008 05:47

Quite a good deal of out and out fun from hostess with the mostess; I like to call her Dazzle, but really it's Daz Chandler doing her usual wonderful best interviewing a comedian notorious for being difficult to interview.

Notice he (Daniel Kitson) is delightedly streaming out all sorts of insightful insights into himself as a natural chap rather than living up to the oft uber serious reports that suggest he hates being interviewed.

Great work!!

More of Daz Chandler's work can be heard by going to the podcasts at Sydney's 2SER FM, one of the greater sized and resourced community radio stations in New South Wales, Australia.

SWEET DISPOSITION SINGLE LAUNCHES

The Temper Trap

Respected Melbourne four piece The Temper Trap return to the live front to celebrate the release of their latest single, Sweet Disposition, taken from their forthcoming debut album. Recently recorded in Melbourne with esteemed UK producer Jim Abbiss (Massive Attack, DJ Shadow, Arctic Monkeys) the record’s rich and sophisticated soundscapes are nothing short of epic.

The band have emerged from the recording session as a tight knit creative force, producing a dynamic single that is a giant leap from their earlier EP of two years ago and undeniably delivers on all of their promise.

The single launches are the beginning of a massive twelve months ahead for the boys with a busy summer touring schedule of festivals and overseas shows confirmed.

The Temper Trap will have a limited edition 12" available at these shows with remixes from such underground luminaries as Curtis Vodka (Bjork, Silversun Pickups, Kid Sister) and Pocketknife (Spank Rock, David Bowie, Feist, Sufjan Stevens) for this release.
