The principal characters of The Phantom of the Opera continue their stories in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s LOVE NEVER DIES.
Ten years after the mysterious disappearance of The Phantom from the Paris Opera House, Christine Daae accepts an offer to come to America and perform at New York’s fabulous new playground of the world - Coney Island.
Christine arrives in New York with her husband Raoul and their son Gustave. She soon discovers the identity of the anonymous impresario who has lured her from France to sing.
LOVE NEVER DIES is a rollercoaster ride of obsession and intrigue, in which music and memory can play cruel tricks, and The Phantom sets out to prove that, indeed, LOVE NEVER DIES.
Love Never Dies stars Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess, as the Phantom and Christine, Joseph Millson as Raoul, Liz Robertson as Madame Giry and Summer Strallen as Meg Giry.
The roles of Fleck, Squelch and Gangle will be played respectively by Niamh Perry, Adam Pearce and Jami Reid-Quarrell.
The cast will also include Derek Andrews, Dean Chisnall, Helen Dixon, Lucie Downer, Paul Farrell, Charlene Ford, Chris Gage, Lucy van Gasse, Celia Graham, Simon Ray Harvey, Jack Horner, Erin Anna Jameson, Pip Jordan, Jessica Kirton, Louise Madison, Janet Mooney, Colette Morrow, Tam Mutu, Ashley Nottingham, Tom Oakley, Mark Skipper, Jonathan Stewart, Tim Walton and Annette Yeo.
When you are on a good thing - thrash it to death? Andrew Lloyd Webber hit the mark in time and place when Phantom Of The Opera appeared on the stage decades ago.
The longest running, most loved show ever. Most recently there has been the arena spectacular version of the show which I personally did not enjoy. It seemed like everything positive about the show had been diluted beyond repair - too too big - but now we have the sequel about to take the world by storm.
I guess the producers are relying upon the idea of everyone who saw the original paying to see the follow up. If that's the case then the show will do well for the next few years.
If, on the other hand, people don't just go because they saw the original - it may turn out to be a case of what rests in peace should stay in peace.
The World Premiere of LOVE NEVER DIES will take place in London on 9 March 2010 at the Adelphi Theatre. Previews began on 22 February. The show will subsequently open in New York on November 11, 2010 and then in Australia in 2011.
Decca Broadway announced that it will release two versions of the new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical LOVE NEVER DIES. The release of both, a regular and deluxe edition, will be made available March 9th.
Both versions of the CD will be two-disc sets, with the deluxe version including a DVD as well. The DVD will feature behind the scenes footage from the recording session, as well as interviews with Andrew Lloyd Webber, Bob Crowley (set design), and members of the cast. In addition, it will include a music video of the song "Coney Island Waltz" from the show.
