Peats Ridge Festival

Picture New Years with Australia’s biggest musical act Gotye, in one of Australia’s most stunning rural locations - Glenworth Valley.

Best New Years Ever?

Peats Ridge Sustainable Arts & Music Festival Director Matt Grant thinks so.

In announcing the 2011 Peats Ridge line up just ahead of tickets going on sale on12th September, Grant, the man behind Australia’s premier three day camping Festival, which runs from 29 December - 01 January, has revealed man of the year Gotye will play the evening of the year at Peats Ridge. And that’s not all.

Australian gold and platinum record selling artist Xavier Rudd is also on the bill in time for his new album ‘Spirit Bird’ to hit Australian airwaves and UK party starter and deck spinner A-Skillz returns to OZ for the first time in three years after a sell out tour in 2008.

UK break beat legends Stanton Warriors make their first trip back to Australia in two years - hotly following the release of their new album ‘The Warriors’. New American rock band The Dum Dum Girls will come to Australia for the very first time following a hit 2010 debut album ‘I Will Be’ and two massive headline tours across the USA.

Peats Ridge has helped launch some of Australia’s greatest music sensations - Angus & Julia Stone, The Temper Trap, Kate Miller-Heidke, Washington, Cloud Control and more. Grant expects this new and incredibly diverse line up to continue to break new sounds and locally grown acts, as well as showcase for the first time new local and international acts to the Festival’s 10,000 per day plus fans.

“Husky is just on the cusp of blowing up,” says Grant. “Their new album soon to hit - “Forever So’, is incredible, and they’re brilliantly exciting performers to watch live. I also think Sietta is going to rock Peats Ridge, their songs are among Triple J’s most requested and have a sound that’s destined for great things and Tijuana Cartel are always good, they nail it every time.”

Hermitude will play just ahead of launching their first album, we think they’re by far one of Australia’s most talented hip hop acts. And we’re also really excited about killer blues/roots two piece Swamp Thing, with Michael Barkin from the John Butler Trio, I just love them.”

There are also a few surprises this year says Grant. “Chinese/Mongolian throat singing fusion six piece folk band Hanggai might seem out there to some, but I just know they’re going to blow minds. There’s so much diversity this year and we’ve been absolutely committed to giving the Festival the most creative and musically exciting line-up to date” he says.

Now in its eighth year, Peats Ridge is one of only a few camping festivals in New South Wales. The Festival offers a totally immersive experience of music, performing arts and culture. A world leading sustainable event recognised by the United Nations, Peats Ridge also has a dedicated eco-living education program as well as extensive environmental initiatives and awards. The Festival is also 100 percent family friendly with a dedicated Children’s Festival program for children and their adult friends, alongside family camping facilities.

General tickets go on sale at10am 12 September 2011 at peatsridgefestival.com.au at only $320 for adult season passes, this is the best value getaway you’re going to get this summer!
