Ru CL will release his eagerly anticipated sophomore album Brimstone & Fire next Tuesday 12 August 2011 via Invada Records / Remote Control.
Hailing from Melbourne with Jamaican / Australian heritage, Ru CL (aka Rueben Campbell) is one of the most exciting artists to emerge from Australia's thriving hip-hop scene.
Brimstone & Fire is a skilled, exciting, unique and lyrically clever hip-hop album, featuring top quality production from Lance Wilson, Katalyst, Adventure Starters (Katalyst, Peakhour and Sandro), Lance Wilson, 7stu7 and upcoming Perth producer Luke Pierre.
The album has a classic hip-hop sound, with a similarity in vocal delivery to the likes of Nas and Mos Def. Brimstone and Fire further demonstrates that Ru CL is able to effortlessly cross between many genres, be it hip hop, reggae, dancehall, sing jay, soul or R&B.
Over the years Ru CL has built a reputation within the hip hop community making his presence felt in the underground scene. His experiences are wide and varied, with projects such as Guerrilla Style Tactics (his self-funded EP), the Dancehall Heavy mix tape, and ‘It’s Attractive’ (the theme track for Puma Clyde fashion series), to live performances at festivals such as the Jakarta Jazz Festival, Dreaming Festival, Big Day Out, Good Vibes, Groovin The Moo, Days Like This, Golden Plains, Homebake, Vibes on a Summers Day, Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival, Reggae Town and Kowanyama Baby Festival. In addition, Ru CL was the official MC at the Raggamuffin Festival 2010.
