RYE RYE

October 24th 2008 23:58
RYE RYE (Mad Decent, M.I.A., Sinden / Baltimore) - touring 22-26 October

The HOTTEST young talent on the global party scene today, Baltimore teen Rye Rye filled floors with her rapid-fire MCing on 'Shake it to the Ground'. She's since gone high rotation on tracks with Diplo, Sinden and Crookers, and is the first signing to M I A's new label. On the back of a US/European tour with M.I.A., Rye Rye shakes Oxford Art Factory (and other venues around Oz) to the ground with her LIVE MC/dance extravaganza Saturday 25 October.

Hailed by NME as "the latest prodigy from the Spank Rock stable", Baltimore teen Rye Rye comes hot on the heels of M.I.A. and Santogold, having just signed a major record deal with Insterscope, home to Eminem, 50 Cent and N*E*R*D.

An inimitable talent with a unique sound, Rye Rye stole the hearts and feet of music lovers all around the world with her debut single ‘Shake it to the Ground’ (with Blaqstarr) – a sure fire club anthem for the past year, while the video has snagged close on a million views on youtube.

Follow ups have been equally well received and include co-pros with the industry's best:

'Wassup Wassup' produced by Diplo on Mad Decent
Rye Rye (& Afrikan Boy) remix of M.I.A.'s smash 'Paper Planes'
'Hardcore Girls' with The Count & Sinden

'Get Familiar' backed by Cobra Krames
and now a mixtape with M.I.A. is in the works

Demonstrating versatility, an abundance of personality and an ability to breathe new life into uptempo rap, a genre that is already popping in every corner of the globe, Rye Rye is ushering in a new generation of artists that love what they do and do what they love.

Having just scorched the stage at Notting Hill Carnival, played dates across Europe and before that coast to coast in the US on tour with M.I.A., Mia herself commented: "Rye Rye has developed her own style and people are loving what she is bringing to music"! This sits alongside percolating media attention, her incredible - nay insane - dance moves and intoxicating presence to make for one of the hottest acts in world of dance music today.
