Lions At Your Door

Lions At Your Door
'In A Sea' National Tour

Stream 'In a Sea': lions-at-your-door/in-a-sea

With a reputation for crafting intelligent, infectious indie pop and energetic, dance-inducing live show, Lions At Your Door (LAYD) is hitting the road this August/September, celebrating the release of new single ‘In a Sea’.

It’s been a while between drinks with the band’s interstate friends, so expect LAYD to hit the stage with all the ferocity of its large cat namesake.

For anyone familiar with LAYD, the band’s first official single for 2010 ‘In a Sea’ may be quite different to what you’d expect from the Sydney indie sextet.

Since taking time out at the start of 2010 to focus on writing and recording, LAYD has grown into a new, more grounded, melodic style of playing, without compromising the frenetic energy they’ve become renowned for.

‘In a Sea’ manages to channel the band’s energy into a tumbling, epic, indie pop tune that stays with you. With each listen the song builds and grows on you, the catchy chorus belying a new found sophistication and clarity of ideas in LAYD’s writing.

Lead singer Marihuzka finds a new dimension to her vocals, performing with delicate restraint over the sparse driving rhythm at the beginning of the song, building until the chorus explodes with the powerful, arresting six piece sound that marked LAYD out from the crowd when they first crashed onto the scene three years ago.

‘In a Sea’ is available August 20 from all good digital providers.

AUSTRALIAN TOUR ANNOUNCED

FOR MARCH 2011!

Pioneers. Innovators.
Icons. Legends …

The Chemical Brothers are coming back to take Australia Further in 2011!

There's simply no denying the extraordinary skills of The Chemical Brothers, who are still at the very forefront of electronic musical culture, since first taking the planet by veritable storm back in the early 1990s.

Comprising the sublime talents of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, this prodigious UK duo have released no less than seven chart-topping albums, enjoyed numerous global hit singles, and are synonymous with the all-conquering ‘Big Beat’ movement that they personally handcrafted and pioneered way back when.

Achieving unprecedented mass appeal for their notoriously huge sounds, fist-pumping beats and unique brand of psychadelic-electronic-rock mayhem, tracks like ‘Hey boy Hey Girl’, ‘Block Rockin’ Beats’, ‘Out Of Control’, ‘Galvanize’ and ‘Setting Sun’ are the party soundtrack for an entire generation of music lovers, far and wide. All of this, however, speaks nothing of The Chemical Brothers phenomenal LIVE experience … an experience which has continually pushed the very boundaries of multimedia, changed the face of large-scale electronic performances forever, and one for which the pair are now renowned, and revered for, worldwide.

Future Entertainment are proud to announce that, having blown the roof off sold out stadiums, arenas and Future Music Festival main stages right around Australia in 2008, The Chemical Brothers are venturing back down under to unleash their latest and greatest heart-thumping LIVE juggernaut on the nation. Hot on the heels of the release of their latest stunning long player in June 2010, Further, ‘The Chems’ (as they’re affectionately known by their legion of loyal fans) will touch down in March 2011 with the album’s mind blowing, custom-designed LIVE show in full effect.

Not only is this our next chance to bask in the epic glory of ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’ and revel in the bass-dropping genius of ‘Galvanize’ 100% LIVE, but featuring the cutting-edge film work of long time Chems’ multimedia collaborators, Adam Smith (Flat Nose George) and Marcus Lyall, the visuals for the awe-inspiring Further show have also been custom-designed, crafted and refined throughout the album’s recording process.

Heralding yet another first for Tom and Ed, this unique approach of making individual movies for each of the record’s eight tracks and directly marrying imagery with precise beats, notes, build-ups and drops has already received rave reviews from media in the pair’s home country, where the show debuted in May.

“A dramatic way of unveiling the duo’s new album … fantastically propulsive block-rocking drum beat and tumbling down bass” said The Times.
“Designed for pure sensation” declared The Financial Times, “the Chemicals can certainly make a crowd happy” raved The Observer, while The Word perhaps summed it up best by saying “it belts up the architecture and rattles your fillings”.

Tickets for these awe-inspiring shows will go on sale in the first week of August, and with 2008’s shows selling out in a matter of minutes, fans are advised to get in quick this time around to avoid disappointment!
The countdown has begun, so music fans unite! The world’s biggest bass thumping rockers and masters of dropping those block rockin’ beats are officially on their way, and, according to Ed, it’s going to be one hell of a show: “In Australia and NZ we'll be playing big tunes that we've decided we like playing live from Further, but of course, along with some of the older stuff”, he says.

“We've always enjoyed being out there, it's good to get away. People seem pleased to see us down Australia, so it's good!"

Get ready to go Further with The Chemical Brothers.

In support of his stunning debut album, “Hunting” due for release on June 18, Ernest Ellis is set to embark on an East Coast tour throughout July taking in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney as well as Canberra, Toowoomba and Wollongong.

After writing the bulk of the material in the rustic surrounds of the Blue Mountains, Ernest Ellis teamed up with co-producer Tim Carr to take the recording process out of the studio and into the open air. Whilst Ernest Ellis is a band, it’s the brainchild of Roland Ellis who works in collaboration with Tim Carr and other members of his band including drummer Mat Gardner and bassist Ben Morgan. They headed out to the sprawling 500 acres of farm property owned by Tim’s Dad just outside of Orange and set up in the farmhouse and vast warehouse.

This removal created the feeling of air and space amongst the recordings, allowing the team to experiment not only with the songs but with the methods of recording them. Most of the vocals were recorded lying in a bathtub, “partly out of stubbornness because I was in a mood, and partly because I like the natural reverb of that bathroom”. The drums for ‘Heading For The Cold’ were literally recorded atop a mountain, allowing the natural reverb to echo across the valley and provide that unique sense of space usually so elusive and restrictive in a studio environment.

That is not to say that Ernest Ellis abandoned the studio all together. Having laid down the basis of lthe ong-player, they returned to Studio 301 to put the finishing touches and mixes on the album.

The album crisscrosses various terrains from anthemic and dramatic guitar fueled tracks (Loveless, Want For Anything) to pastoral acoustic moments (Valley Song) to lilting and infectious pop (Heading For The Cold, Bad Blood). It’s a bold, ambitious collection of songs that showcases a writer with a broad and at times challenging vision.

The final result is an album, full of wide open spaces followed by a cosy night in after a successful day’s hunting. With a full band to bring the album to life on stage, Ernest Ellis goes beyond the realms of the recording, adding a more upbeat, rockier dimension to the live performance (featuring Mat Gardner on Drums, Ben Morgan on Bass and Keita Tarlinton on keys).

Ernest Ellis debut album “Hunting” is out on June 16th through Dew Process/UMA.

MIIKE SNOW

EXCLUSIVE HEADLINE SHOWS IN MELBOURNE AND SYDNEY THIS WINTER!

The Frontier Touring Company are thrilled to announce international indie-pop heroes Miike Snow will be performing headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney this August.

The band has been widely acclaimed for their songwriting finesse – which comes as no surprise due to the musical experience of all three members.

Two of them, Swedish duo Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, have previously written and produced under the handle of Bloodshy & Avant, cranking out hits for artists such as Kylie Minogue, Madonna and Britney Spears – for whom they wrote and produced smash hit ‘Toxic’ and won a Grammy for their efforts.

Rounding out the phenomenal trio is US songwriter Andrew Wyatt, widely known for his wordsmith abilities as a gifted lyricist. Their self-titled debut in 2009 included the epic ‘Silvia’ and vibrant radio hit ‘Animal’ and showcased their combined talents in an explosion of catchy melodies and compositional depth.

‘Karlsson and Winnberg have focused their talent and energy on catchy-yet-intelligent and often challenging pop songs. And, crucially, they’ve hooked up with American lyricist/vocalist Andrew Wyatt. Not only do Wyatt’s words add a sharp lyricism to the beats, but his smooth, expressive, charismatic voice gives them soul.’ – popmatters.com

Following the album’s release, Miike Snow have since toured with multiple sold out shows and gained both an underground, word-of-mouth following as well as attracting massive crowds at some of the largest music festivals including South by Southwest and Coachella.

‘When tickets go on sale for Miike Snow, don’t even blink…Vocals were sharp and the energy of the band on stage gave a surge to the energy of the crowd…As most of the crowd left covered in sweat from dancing like it might be their last chance, it was hard to deny that Miike Snow passed the live music test.’ – Examiner.com

Consider yourself warned – tickets go on sale Friday 4 June, 9am local time. Frontier Members have access to a Members’ pre-sale from Wednesday 2 June, 12 noon AEST to Thursday 3 June, 12 noon AEST.

BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE

May 7th 2010 13:41
Formed in Toronto in 2002 by Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning from an assortment of their very talented musical friends, lovers and strangers, Broken Social Scene very quickly established themselves as one of the most vital voices in independent music. Their albums were cinematic, critically-acclaimed and lovingly-wrapped parcels of concepts and melodies that married a dizzying onslaught of sounds with finely-crafted choruses, and saw them instantly recognised on the international stage.

Though at times having up to a dozen or more musicians (including Feist & members of Stars) on said stage meant it wasn’t really that hard to recognise them!

Forward to 2010 and Broken Social Scene have just released their first record-proper, Forgiveness Rock Record, in almost five years. And with a slightly stripped back line-up (8 people at last count) they have delivered a considered, complex and brilliant album of stories about love and forgiveness. It would be fair to say that Broken Social Scene are BACK(!), and in an era of flash-in-the-pan supergroups we welcome them with loving open arms.

Don’t miss Broken Social Scene when they return to Australia for the third time to play Sydney and Melbourne this August. Full dates & details below:

Brisbane-reared, Brooklyn-based noise merchants Violent Soho have announced long awaited homecoming dates to celebrate the release of their self titled new album.

Violent Soho’s self titled album is being released worldwide in 2010 via Thurston Moore’s Ecstatic Peace label and is without doubt one of the most powerful rock albums you will hear this year. The album was produced by the highly respected Gil Norton (Pixies, Jimmy Eat World, Echo & The Bunnymen, Foo Fighters) and has already impressed local critics with a slew of brilliant reviews surfacing over the past week. Blunt magazine calls it “the second coming of teen spirit”, while the Sunday Herald Sun raves “heaving guitar riffs, musical mood swings, and a relentless approach spells the emphatic arrival into the rock world by exciting Brisbane newcomers Violent Soho”.
