GUITAR LEGEND SANTANA
RETURNS TO AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND

In Concert with his Guitar Heaven Tour

Tuesday 30th November, 2010
Chugg Entertainment today announces that come March, one of the greatest musicians and legendary guitarists of our generation is set to ignite Australian & New Zealand shores. Toting a style that defies definition, immediately recognizable yet unlike any other, Santana's fusion of Latin rock, blues, soul and jazz comes in full swing on stage in a way that transcends time and the limits of genre typecasting.

The GUITAR HEAVEN TOUR begins on Sunday 13th March at Sandalford Estate Swan Valley in Perth, followed by Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday 16th March, and then the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Thursday 17th March before heading to New Zealand for shows at Vector Arena in Auckland on Sunday 20th March and Christchurch's CBS Canterbury Arena on Tuesday 22nd March.

The tour then heads back to Australia for a performance at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Thursday 24th March, then Sydney's Acer Arena on Friday 25th March.

The tour then concludes with a very special performance at Hope Estate in the Hunter Valley on Saturday 26th March, where Santana will be joined by very special guests The Doobie Brothers.

For forty years and as many albums later, Santana has sold more than 90 million records and reached more than 100 million fans at concerts worldwide. To date, Santana has won ten Grammy® Awards, including a record-tying nine for a single project, 1999's Supernatural (including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for "Smooth"). In 1998, the group was ushered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, whose web page on their induction notes, "Guitarist Carlos Santana is one of rock's true virtuosos and guiding lights." Among many other honours, Carlos Santana has also been cited by Rolling Stone as #15 on their list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time." His newest CD, GUITAR HEAVEN…THE GREATEST GUITAR CLASSICS OF ALL TIMES (ARISTA) (featuring "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"), was released in late September 2010. Celebrating this chart debut, Santana joins the ranks of the Rolling Stones as the only musical act in chart history to score at least one Top 10 album in every decade beginning with the 1960s. GUITAR HEAVEN…is Santana's 29th Billboard Top 200 charting release, 12th Top 10 album debut and third Top 10 debut in the past 5 years.

Since its #5 debut on the Australian charts GUITAR HEAVEN has achieved gold status. It was produced by Howard Benson, Matt Serletic, Clive Davis and Carlos Santana who devised a list of guitar-centric titles – and then invited a who's who of guest vocalists to perform on every track. Singers range from Chris Cornell (on Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love"), India.Arie and Yo Yo Ma (on the album's first single "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"), Pat Monahan (on Van Halen's "Dance the Night Away"), Chester Bennington and Ray Manzarek (on The Doors' "Riders on the Storm"), Rob Thomas (on Cream's "Sunshine Of Your Love), Scott Weiland (on the Rolling Stones' "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'"), Chris Daughtry (on the album's current single Def Leppard's "Photograph"), Gavin Rossdale (on T. Rex's "Bang A Gong"), rapper Nas (on AC/DC's "Back In Black"), veteran Joe Cocker (on Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing"), and more.

There are few artists of this caliber, and fewer opportunities to see them live. Do not miss the chance to see one of the most enduring guitar legends in March 2011.

Acrobatic Show

Performed by the
Chongqing Acrobatic Art Troupe of China

Melbourne & Sydney
February 2011

A spectacular legend about Family & Courage

The internationally acclaimed Mulan is coming to Melbourne and Sydney in 2011 Following a six month tour of the US, the dazzling show for families will play Melbourne for the very first time and return to Sydney (by popular demand) in time to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
MULAN
Mulan will play in Melbourne at The Arts Centre - State Theatre from 3 to 5 February 2011 and in Sydney at the State Theatre from 10 to 13 February 2011 for a strictly limited season.

Originating from a traditional Chinese myth, the family-friendly acrobatic show, Mulan tells the story about a young girl named Hua Mulan who brings honor to her family by becoming a warrior and enters a glorifying war against the bandits. The story of Hua Mulan was adapted as a major Walt Disney animated feature film in 1998, delighting families around the world. This heartwarming story is told by an extraordinary visiting troupe of performers the Chongqing Acrobatic Art Troupe of China through acrobatics, dances, and artistic stage designs.

The visually spectacular show is ideal for families, Mulan features thirty five performers, with the youngest being twelve years old and has made an outstanding breakthrough in acrobatic techniques, with incredible displays of Silk Trapeze, Meteriors and Hoop Diving. A team of professional martial arts performers have been incorporated into the show so that audiences can enjoy high-level martial techniques and adventurous scenes, which bring about a unique and breathtaking visual experience.

Mulan is divided into five acts, which each exhibit unique and magnificent physical skills. The Festival uses the incredible displays of balancing and foot juggling. The Army Recruitment exhibits masculine power and prowess and features the incredible treading on drums act. The Fight against Bandits simulates a war scene and includes hoop diving. Head over Heels in Love uses fluid acrobatic skills such as Shadow Puppet Plays and the dazzling Silk Trapeze to create romance. The Triumph is the final celebration and includes the amazing Meterior and Play Dooly acts both of which include demonstrations of human bodies defying gravity as the troupe perform amazing airborne talents to the sounds of the roaring drums and resounding horns.

Chongqing Acrobatic Art Troupe has received many international and domestic awards for its wonderful programmes. One of their many awards includes the Splendour Award (for professional theatrical artworks). Chongqing Acrobatic Art Troupe has performed in over eighty countries and more than four hundred cities. The show has received rave reviews from international audiences all around the world.

Local Natives

November 18th 2010 06:18
LOCAL NATIVES
HEADLINE SHOWS ANNOUNCED
FOR MELBOURNE & SYDNEY
IN FEBRUARY 2011

In news that is sure to have Australian fans bursting with anticipation, The Frontier Touring Company are pleased to confirm headline shows for American indie rock sensation Local Natives.

Announced earlier this month, the Los Angeles based five piece are heading down under in February for the Laneway Festivals and now fans can catch Local Natives as they play two exclusive headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney in support of their debut album Gorilla Manor.

Gorilla Manor, a homage to the house the band lived in whilst making the album, is the result of four years of musical collaboration and evolution. Everything from the songwriting to the band’s self produced artwork, is a combination of its individual members talents; keyboardist Kelcey Ayer, guitarists Ryan Hahn and Taylor Rice, drummer Matt Frazier and bassist Andy Hamm.

The unique sound of sky-scraping harmonies and dreamy orchestral melodies, infused with throbbing tribal beats earned Local Natives much attention at SXSW in 2009, followed by their unforgettable performance at Coachella earlier this year.

Needless to say singles ‘Airplanes’, ‘Camera Talk’ and ‘World News’ are creating a huge buzz and critics across the globe are going mad for Local Natives.

"I can't wait to see them parlay this energy and musicianship into a live show. Highly recommended." The Age

Local Natives will be joined on stage at the Corner Hotel and Metro Theatre by Leader Cheetah and The Paper Scissors.

Catch Local Natives this February in Melbourne, Sydney and at Laneway Festivals around the country, before it’s too late!

November 15th 2010 21:27
Stagerite Pty Ltd presents
Cyndi Lauper Live
Touring Australia in March to April 2011

GET READY for the EXPLOSIVE CYNDI LAUPER

Iconic performer Cyndi Lauper is returning to Australia for a number of performances from March 2011. Tickets go on sale around the country on November 25.

Cyndi Lauper

Cyndi Lauper was the first artist to have five top ten singles from a debut album which included her mega hit Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Cyndi has sold 25 million albums, received 13 Grammy nominations, two Emmy Awards, two American Music Awards, and 18 MTV Video Music Awards and continues to lead as a singer, songwriter, musician, actress, and activist.

The Cyndi Lauper tour of Australia commences in Brisbane with two performances on March 28 and 29 and then travels to Sydney on March 31st and April 1, Newcastle on April 2, Perth on April 5, Melbourne on April 8 and 9 and completes her tour in Adelaide on April 11.
With her recent album Memphis Blues, a collection of blues cover songs, she is once again reinventing herself by putting her unique twist on one of music’s most beloved genres. The collection of blues cover songs ranges from the harmonica blues ballad Just Your Fool to Don’t Cry No More, originally a hit for Bobby “Blue” Bland. Memphis Blues has been at the top pf the Blues charts for several weeks.

"Australia is one of my favorite places and I am looking forward to visiting again in early 2011,” said Cyndi Lauper. “We always have a great time when we come to Australia."

Her 2008 studio album, dance-oriented, Grammy-nominated Bring Ya to the Brink, featured collaborations with a cadre of cutting-edge producers and spawned two No. 1 Billboard Hot Dance Club Play singles. In 2009, the long-time actress appeared on such red-hot television shows as 30 Rock, Gossip Girl, Bones, and American Idol (performing with contestant Allison Iraheta), and was a surprise guest at the resurrected concert event VH1 Divas. In addition to her love of performing, Cyndi is unwavering in her commitment to social activism, creating the True Colors Fund as a show of solidarity against discrimination and to raise awareness about the issues facing the GLBT population.

The series has been put together by casting professionals for actors. We all recognise that there is a need for a genuine series of workshops so that emerging Australian actors can work with the American & Canadian decision makers. Actors will get honest feedback about their performance. There are no promises of employment, representation or visas. As any agent of repute knows, if a studio wishes to employ an International actor, they will get the paperwork done.

The aim of the workshop series is simple – ‘to introduce actors to the leading casting directors and network casting executives from Los Angeles, New York and Canada in Sydney, Australia. The team of casting professionals who will be teaching are listed below. As you will see, they are not associates or assistants; they are Casting Directors with substantial credits, experience and reputation. Many of them do not teach workshops. They have agreed to teach this series as they have cast Australian actors and respect the work ethic Australian professionals possess. The casting directors are being remunerated for their time as they are teaching. These are not paid ‘go-sees’, but they have all given up Thanksgiving with their families to come to see you, so they are dedicated to this project.

Actors interested in taking a class or a series of classes should enrol online. No bookings will be taken over the phone or in person. The online system counts down, so enrolment by any other means could cause over-enrolment. Receipts are issued immediately from the website and should be brought with you on the day of your class.

Classes are limited to 16 per class.

Private lessons are available with some of the casting directors.

The official website for this project is www.aipapaws.com.au

Please ask any questions you may have before enrolling. Sides will be supplied by the casting directors and will be emailed to you prior to your workshop. You will also receive a tax invoice for your classes.
The Australian Institute for Performing Arts is proud to present this opportunity to actors.
