Due to the overwhelming response from the three-month Australia-wide tour of The Gathering, playing to audiences from Port Lincoln to Townsville, TaikOz has announced a one-off Sydney performance on 24 November at the Conservatorium of Music.
The internationally acclaimed TaikOz, described by the Sydney Morning Herald as ‘bold and original’, is now halfway through its 11-week tour (which started in September) of regional areas of South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Northern Territory, playing to wildly enthusiastic audiences at each stop.
“Our days in each theatre begin with an early bump-in, followed by sound checking, lighting focus and plotting, music rehearsal and warm ups, a two and half-hour performance, post-show meet and greet and the final pack up and bump-out at midnight,” says Ian Cleworth, Artistic Director. “A busy day, but enormously satisfying as the group builds towards the arrival of the audience when the atmosphere turns electric and the process reaches a point of completion, giving us a real sense of our program's theme - The Gathering.”
After nearly three months on the road, and for one final night, TaikOz would like to share this program with its home audience. Proceeds earned from this concert will go towards mounting performances and workshops in Sydney and Melbourne with the famed Kodō ensemble. TaikOz and Kodō in Concert is sure to be a highlight in our 2009 calendar!
Experience the energy of Australia’s internationally acclaimed taiko drumming ensemble.
