David Walliams, creator of Little Britain and multi-award winning international star publishes The Boy in the Dress, his first children’s novel Illustrated by Quentin Blake.
The Boy in the Dress is a timeless and hilarious fable crammed with unique characters only David Walliams could have thought up! The Boy in the Dress is about what happens when an ordinary boy does something extraordinary - and the way that people, even the most petty and cruel, can surprise you in the end.
About David Walliams and Quentin Blake:
Walliams had appeared on numerous stage productions and TV shows before he teamed up with good friend Matt Lucas in 1995 and created the Sir Bernard Chumley and Friends show. The pair spent the next year touring the UK with a sell-out show. In 1999 they appeared at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal Canada and then the Paramount's live comedy show Mondo Jest in 1996. Walliams then spent the next few years working on TV shows such as The League of Gentlemen, Rock Profiles, Cruise of the Gods and Spaced as well as writing for sit-com Home with co-star Rob Byrdon. It was only in 2003 when the award-winning show Little Britain blessed our TV screens.
Since then Walliams has swum the English Channel as well as the 12-mile Strait of Gibraltar (both for the charity Sport Relief), performed in the TV drama Frankie Howard: Rather You than Me and the BBC2 drama Capturing Mary.
Quentin Blake, Britain’s most iconic illustrator, famed for his collaboration with Roald Dahl has illustrated The Boy in the Dress with his notoriously witty black and white pencil drawings. The combination of these two talented individuals creates a book that is impossible to put down.
