NEW SKIN
Sydney 5 piece The Mission In Motion are preparing to release their much anticipated debut album “ Somewhere Safe” and are proud to officially announce their new single, New Skin.
Their first release since their 2008 sophomore EP 'A Curse, A Calling' which debuted at number 3 on the Air singles charts, the quintet have been hard at work with Dave Petrovic at Electric Sun Studios putting together “Somewhere Safe”.
They’ve done so around a busy live schedule that has seen them share the stage with good friends Stealing O'Neal, Elora Danan, Wherewolves, opening the Sydney main stage of the Soundwave Festival in 2009, headlining a youth festival in Singapore - and their own successful shows to boot.
As described by The Mission In Motion front man Brett Islaub, “New Skin is our weekend song. We wanted to write a song about letting everything go, having a few drinks and having a good time with your friends.
There is so much to worry about with work, money, relationships etc - we wanted to write a song that could inspire a big night out. Chris and I wrote it over a few drinks at his place. It had been thrown around in different ways and different versions for about 6 months but as soon as we had the first lines of the first verse written it just clicked and the rest of the song was written in an hour. It was just one of those songs that once we knew what we wanted to do with it everything fell into place"
A band who are looked up to and admired by their peers, The Mission In Motion will be spending the majority of 2010 on the road, their home away from home. The band will be teaming up Americans Senses Fail early August, and then with Scary Kids, Scaring Kids (USA) which will include their first tour of New Zealand.
“Somewhere Safe” will be released nationally on Friday July 30th through Taperjean Records/ Shock, and features a limited edition bonus disc featuring B sides & Rarities.
