FOO FIGHTERS and TENACIOUS D

July 7th 2011 00:05
FOO FIGHTERS

WITH SPECIAL GUEST

TENACIOUS D

SET TO ROCK STADIUMS ACROSS AUSTRALIA & NZ!

The Frontier Touring Company are not just delighted, they’re damn well besides themselves with giddy excitement, to announce what is arguably THE biggest rock concerts of the summer.

#1 chart-toppers the Foo Fighters are returning to Australia and New Zealand for stadium shows and they’re bringing some pretty awesome friends in tow: none other than Tenacious D!

Tenacious D

With over 15 years of experience, as documented in the band’s recently released DVD Back And Forth (Sony) and as headliners of the world’s most prestigious venues and festivals, Foo Fighters have become arguably the premiere live American rock act the world over. Their upcoming stadium tour will surely remind their Australian and New Zealand fans just how the band has achieved its mastery of the live element as Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear lead these colossal crowds in singalongs of such classics from their multi-platinum, 6 time Grammy Award winning catalogue as ‘Everlong’, ‘The Pretender’, ‘Learn To Fly’, ‘All My Life’, ‘Best Of You’, new staples ‘Rope’ and ‘Walk’ and more.

For their recently released seventh album, Wasting Light (Roswell Records through Sony), Foo Fighters returned to basics, recording in frontman Grohl’s garage with producer Butch Vig and churning out 11 prime examples of the trademark mix of melody and brawn that has made them one of the most beloved bands on the planet. The press were quick to stamp their approval, including a 4 star lead review from Rolling Stone who praised the albums 'fuzz-box brawn, mosh-pit hurrah choruses and iron-horse momentum' and hailed it as 'the best Foos album since the first two’. The sentiment was echoed by the public as Wasting Light debuted at #1 in 12 countries, including the RIANZ and ARIA album charts, where it occupied a place in the Australian Top 10 for over 2 months.

It’s no secret that Australia and New Zealand love the Foo Fighters and the sentiment is 100% reciprocated. Upon hearing of the natural disasters that affected Queensland and Christchurch earlier this year, the Foos were quick to donate their time and raise over $1 million for the relief funds:

“The Foo Fighters blitzed Brisbane’s Riverstage last night and no one at the venue will ever forget it…when 10,000 people punch the air and sing along with a song like ‘Generator’ that’s a lot of joy in the air when 10 weeks ago there was misery.” Courier Mail

“Gigs like this don’t come around very often…This was one of those heart-pumping special shows that you know you’re lucky to be at.” NZ Herald

If the Foo Fighters tour wasn’t already exciting enough, no event can legitimately lay claim to the biggest rock concert of the year without including the band behind the “best song in the world”. Oh yes, we’re talking about the one and only Tenacious D aka. Jack Black and Kyle Gass who last blew fans away with their 2007 tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Jack Black’s theatrical vocals and lyrical narrative coupled with Kyle Gass’ manic guitar skills will shred stadium crowds to pieces and take them on a sonic voyage to rock heaven and back, delivering an audience primed for the Foo Fighters to take the stage.

Though it seems this line-up could not possibly get any better, Frontier Touring are not done yet. Stay tuned for further announcements to hear who else will be rounding out this spectacular bill!

Australia and New Zealand make yourself word perfect for every Foos and D tune out there and you just may be worthy of what is set to be one of the biggest – and best – rock concerts of the year!

Tickets are selling fast to Seeker Lover Keeper’s show at The Factory on Friday, 8th July. The band have added a second show in Sydney on Saturday, 9th July with tickets on sale now.

The national tour in July will be the first time Seeker Lover Keeper step onto stage together to perform their highly anticipated self-titled album. The outfit will travel to all major capital cities as well as a few regional towns in-between.

Sally Seltmann, Holly Throsby and Sarah Blasko have now revealed their whole body of work, with triple j naming “Seeker Lover Keeper” their feature album and streaming it in full via the triple j website (triplej.net.au). The self-titled album was recorded over two hot weeks in New York with Victor Van Vugt (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey) enlisted as co-producer along with the three ladies.

Seeker Lover Keeper’s self-titled debut album is out on June 3, 2011 via Dew Process/UMA. Pre-order the album for a special price with a ticket purchase.

THIS IS BAT COUNTRY – TOUR 2011

With special guests HEROES FOR HIRE & BECAUSE THEY CAN

Short Stack are back with a hot new Album and National Headline Tour for 2011.

With four National sell-out tours already under their belt, the last one culminating at the Sydney Opera House in April 2010 Shaun Diviney (vocals/guitar), Andy Clemmensen (bass) and Bradie Webb (drums) – take their 2nd GOLD selling album on the road this July with ‘THIS IS BAT COUNTRY’ Tour!

Fresh from a national arena tour supporting Good Charlotte, the band will be itching to get back on the road, meet their fans and do what they do best; putting together a concert experience that will have fans immersed in their own Bat Country creation, proving once again why Short Stack are undoubtedly the hottest band in the country right now!

‘This Is Bat Country’ is everything you know about Short Stack – the pop hooks, the rock attitude, the cheeky exuberance, and so much more. ‘This Is Bat Country’ is the highly-anticipated follow-up to their 2009 Gold selling debut album and ARIA #1 ‘Stack Is The New Black’ – an album which spawned four top 30 singles and three national sold out tours. ‘This Is Bat Country’, featuring the ARIA #4 platinum selling single ‘Planets’ Gold selling ‘We Dance To A Different Disco Honey’, and the hot new single ‘Heartbreak Make Me Killer’ (released Friday 8 April), hit the charts running when it debuted at number 6 on the ARIA Albums Chart in November 2010 and remained a top 50 for 10 weeks straight!

Supporting Short Stack on all shows are Heroes For Hire and Because They Can.

Since the release of their debut album ‘Life Of The Party’, Sydney’s most promising pop‐punks Heroes For Hire have embarked on a national tour with Detroit outfit Fireworks, landed a slot on Sydney's prestigious Come Together Festival, and have most recently wrapped up a stint on the road with US mob The Wonder Years. Heroes For Hire are thrilled to be supporting Short Stack on the This Is Bat Country tour.

Because They Can are an exciting new young band from the Internet Generation. Recently signed to Sunday Morning Records and following hot on the heels of Short Stack with their home-made Youtube videos, hook-filled songs and growing army of Facebook fans, they look set to be an unstoppable force in 2011 and 2012.

HITS THE HEIGHTS OF US BILLBOARD CHARTS WITH NEW ALBUM

Joe Bonamassa’s new album Dust Bowl debuted at #37 on Billboard's Top 200 Chart, making it his highest chart-ranking US debut to date. Other chart success includes a #1 debut on the Billboard Blues Chart - his 7th consecutive album to debut there at #1 – #5 on the Indie Chart, and #9 on the Rock Chart.

The prolific Bonamassa currently has 3 titles in the US Blues Chart's Top 10. Accompanying Dust Bowl is his 2009 live album Joe Bonamassa: Live From The Royal Albert Hall at #5, and 2010's studio album Black Rock at #8.

Bonamassa's twelfth full-length solo album has received an abundance of glowing critical acclaim around the world. Premier Guitar called it "A blues-rock achievement… his best record to date," while The Dallas Morning News described it as "thematic and expansive… a blues-rocking tour-de-force from an artist who knows no other way of making music." USA Today said, "What sets this album apart is the superior songwriting and the ability to seamlessly inject sounds from other genres into the mix."

And The Orange County Register stated Joe is "unquestionably among our greatest living guitarists, destined to be counted among the greatest of all-time." The Australian’s Steve Creedy said “There’s a reason this virtuoso from New York state, who cites Irish and British blues guitarists as his influences, was last year voted Billboard’s top blues artist and won the Guitar Player magazine readers’ poll for best overall and blues guitarist. A listen to Dust Bowl will quickly show you why.”

The album combines the gritty, blues-based tones of Bonamassa's first albums with the fluid, genre-defying sounds he's mastered in the years since and adds a dash of country from Joe's collaborations with the best of Nashville including legends Vince Gill and John Hiatt. Premier Guitar describes the album as a "widescreen John Ford-style panorama" with "ominous cinematic imagery of trains, cotton fields, heartache, alienation, evil women, and death."

Audiences in the US are currently being wowed on the first leg of Bonamassa’s North American tour. The Columbus Dispatch hailed the show "a night of wailing, energy-drenched solos that never ceased to impress" while the Reading Eagle called it a "tour de force performance steeped in blues." The Grand Rapids Press declared Joe to be "in a league of his own as the best blues man of his era."

Catch Joe Bonamassa and his band as they tour Australia in May.

Shine 2009

Shine 2009

S O F R E E
ft. Paula Abdul

"This group is designed to build exponential hype over the next year."
- XLR8R

"Shine 2009 embrace the easy, mid-tempo shake of clubby 1990s pop, evoking the atmosphere of dark discotheques..." - Pitchfork

Experimental heart-pop-aficionados, Cascine began as a conversation during winter walks in Florence and Stockholm. When it returned to California, the idea continued to bubble until finally, over noodles, hurried whispers and cracked coffee cups, Cascine was born. Cascine is based in LA, NY and London, and is brothers-in-spirit with iconic label, Service of Sweden (Jens Lekman / Tough Alliance / Whitest Boy Alive).

The label’s first offering to Australian ears is served on a bed of toe-tapping Euro-pop, flavoured with nostalgic hints of the Pet Shop Boys and Happy Mondays. Inspired by long taxi rides and the end of a sharp winter, Finnish duo, Shine 2009 delivers So Free – a quintessential pop jam that will warm even the coldest winter heart.

Paula Abdul, who appears as a friend of Cascine and a huge fan of Shine 2009, is perfectly placed in the sonic era where she made her biggest mark on the pop music scene.

So Free (released digitally 5 April) is the first single on Realism, the debut full-length by Shine 2009. Realism launches globally May 3 on experimental pop label, Cascine.

Musicians already confirmed to perform at the ceremony include The Choir of Westminster Abbey, The Chapel Royal Choir, The London Chamber Orchestra and The Fanfare Team from the Central Band of the Royal Air Force. The Choirs will be under the direction of Mr James O’Donnell and The London Chamber Orchestra conducted by its Music Director and Principle Conductor Mr Christopher Warren-Green.

LIONEL RICHIE GUY SEBASTIAN

DUET OF ALL NIGHT LONG FOR CHRISTCHURCH EARTHQUAKE &
QUEENSLAND FLOOD APPEALS

LIONEL RICHIE, GUY SEBASTIAN

A new collaboration between music legend Lionel Richie and Australia's Guy Sebastian of Lionel’s hit single All Night Long is now available for purchase and download from the iTunes store to raise funds for those affected by the Christchurch earthquakes and Queensland floods.

Grammy Award nominated producer RedOne - known as ‘the man behind Lady Gaga’ - also donated his time to the track, contributing irresistible club beats and smooth synthesizer effects to give the classic hit a modern twist and fresh new sound.

Plus, in what is set to be an unforgettable concert highlight, the two chart-topping stars will also perform the song live at all shows on their upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand starting in New Zealand on March 18.

Lionel jumped at the chance to help those in Australia and New Zealand affected by these multiple natural disasters.

“The floods and earthquakes have caused damage on a scale not seen in our lifetime. I can think of no better use for one of my most successful copyrights than to help raise needed funds for the people of Australia and New Zealand. The people of these countries have been very good to me over the course of my career and I welcome the opportunity to return the kindness.”

“Music is meant to lift the spirit of mankind. There will always be the appropriate avenue for sombre reflection on what was lost in these disasters, however, I chose All Night Long because it will give people a reason to donate and celebrate the good times ahead instead of just dwelling on the past.”

Guy Sebastian said “Being offered the tour with Lionel is a real honour but getting to record with him is truly humbling. He is a legend and ‘All Night Long’ is one of his greatest songs and biggest hits so I'm still pinching myself. I hope people get behind it and support the appeals that the money is going to.”

Lionel Richie’s original composition ‘All Night Long (All Night)’ from his second solo album Can’t Slow Down was a smash hit in the 80s. The single peaked at #1 on Billboard Pop, R&B and Adult Contemporary charts as well as #1 on the ARIA Singles chart.

100% of proceeds from the sale of the single in Australia will be donated to the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal. 100% of proceeds from the sale of the single in New Zealand will be donated to the New Zealand Government Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.

The single is available now to purchase and download from the iTunes stores in Australia and New Zealand.

Lionel Richie and Guy Sebastian tour Australia and New Zealand from March 18 to April 6 with tickets on sale now.
