As ONE DAY surfs up the radio and net waves further new tracks will rise with the coming tide of new album SUPERHAPPYFUNTIMESFRIENDS

Out of the great wide blue the guys have now dropped an album's worth of dynamic material all forthcoming over the next month or so on digital, vinyl, cassette, CD and even Playbutton. Shacked up in their Melbourne dwellings and put together in the midst of a enforced creative blizzard... it seems the concept of the album was not without value still as it afforded the more focused structure and disciplined approach they seem to require. Ahhh... the frenzy of an an artistic tempest whipped up by the wild seas of a deadline - all comes now pieced together under the title SUPERHAPPYFUNTIMEFRIENDS.

REGURGITATOR CRUISE
Also of note... Regurgitator's "UNIT" was not only recently voted #13 on the industry voted Triple J TOP 100 Australian albums... but has now come in at #10 on the public voted campaign... with Tu Plang at #44.

Regurgitator's live soundtrack performance of Akira at the Sydney Opera House Graphic event last year has been nominated for two Helpmann awards - Best Australian Contemporary Concert and Best Original Score.

FOO FIGHTERS and TENACIOUS D

July 7th 2011 00:05
FOO FIGHTERS

WITH SPECIAL GUEST

TENACIOUS D

SET TO ROCK STADIUMS ACROSS AUSTRALIA & NZ!

The Frontier Touring Company are not just delighted, they’re damn well besides themselves with giddy excitement, to announce what is arguably THE biggest rock concerts of the summer.

#1 chart-toppers the Foo Fighters are returning to Australia and New Zealand for stadium shows and they’re bringing some pretty awesome friends in tow: none other than Tenacious D!

Tenacious D

With over 15 years of experience, as documented in the band’s recently released DVD Back And Forth (Sony) and as headliners of the world’s most prestigious venues and festivals, Foo Fighters have become arguably the premiere live American rock act the world over. Their upcoming stadium tour will surely remind their Australian and New Zealand fans just how the band has achieved its mastery of the live element as Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear lead these colossal crowds in singalongs of such classics from their multi-platinum, 6 time Grammy Award winning catalogue as ‘Everlong’, ‘The Pretender’, ‘Learn To Fly’, ‘All My Life’, ‘Best Of You’, new staples ‘Rope’ and ‘Walk’ and more.

For their recently released seventh album, Wasting Light (Roswell Records through Sony), Foo Fighters returned to basics, recording in frontman Grohl’s garage with producer Butch Vig and churning out 11 prime examples of the trademark mix of melody and brawn that has made them one of the most beloved bands on the planet. The press were quick to stamp their approval, including a 4 star lead review from Rolling Stone who praised the albums 'fuzz-box brawn, mosh-pit hurrah choruses and iron-horse momentum' and hailed it as 'the best Foos album since the first two’. The sentiment was echoed by the public as Wasting Light debuted at #1 in 12 countries, including the RIANZ and ARIA album charts, where it occupied a place in the Australian Top 10 for over 2 months.

It’s no secret that Australia and New Zealand love the Foo Fighters and the sentiment is 100% reciprocated. Upon hearing of the natural disasters that affected Queensland and Christchurch earlier this year, the Foos were quick to donate their time and raise over $1 million for the relief funds:

“The Foo Fighters blitzed Brisbane’s Riverstage last night and no one at the venue will ever forget it…when 10,000 people punch the air and sing along with a song like ‘Generator’ that’s a lot of joy in the air when 10 weeks ago there was misery.” Courier Mail

“Gigs like this don’t come around very often…This was one of those heart-pumping special shows that you know you’re lucky to be at.” NZ Herald

If the Foo Fighters tour wasn’t already exciting enough, no event can legitimately lay claim to the biggest rock concert of the year without including the band behind the “best song in the world”. Oh yes, we’re talking about the one and only Tenacious D aka. Jack Black and Kyle Gass who last blew fans away with their 2007 tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Jack Black’s theatrical vocals and lyrical narrative coupled with Kyle Gass’ manic guitar skills will shred stadium crowds to pieces and take them on a sonic voyage to rock heaven and back, delivering an audience primed for the Foo Fighters to take the stage.

Though it seems this line-up could not possibly get any better, Frontier Touring are not done yet. Stay tuned for further announcements to hear who else will be rounding out this spectacular bill!

Australia and New Zealand make yourself word perfect for every Foos and D tune out there and you just may be worthy of what is set to be one of the biggest – and best – rock concerts of the year!

SNOWTOWN

The debut feature film of director Justin Kurzel and producers Anna McLeish and Sarah Shaw for WARP FILMS AUSTRALIA, launches its full-length trailer and key art work today.

SNOWTOWN

The film was the hot topic of conversation at the 2011 BigPond Adelaide Film Festival where it won the Audience Award for Best Feature.

The feedback from the screenings has been glowing:

‘One of the greatest and most extraordinary Australian films ever made.’ Peter Goers, ADELAIDE SUNDAY MAIL

‘5 stars’, Rhys Howlett, ABC 891
‘The entire large cast – many of them local first-timers — are superbly believable’ Frank Hatherley, SCREEN INTERNATIONAL

‘One of the most powerful and fascinating Australian films of the year’ Andrew Fenton, ADELAIDE ADVERTISER

‘an absolutely mesmerising, uncompromising crime-movie masterpiece’ Jim Schembri, THE AGE

SNOWTOWN is a powerful psychological drama set in Adelaide’s northern suburbs and based on the real crimes of Australia’s worst serial killer, John Bunting. It explores the relationship between 16-year-old Jamie Vlassakis, who found his father figure and mentor in John Bunting. It is the examination of a community and questions how and why events such as Snowtown occur.

The eagerly anticipated film opens at Palace Nova Eastend Cinemas on May 19 and stars an exciting new Australian cast including Lucas Pittaway, Daniel Henshall and Louise Harris.

LIONEL RICHIE GUY SEBASTIAN

DUET OF ALL NIGHT LONG FOR CHRISTCHURCH EARTHQUAKE &
QUEENSLAND FLOOD APPEALS

LIONEL RICHIE, GUY SEBASTIAN

A new collaboration between music legend Lionel Richie and Australia's Guy Sebastian of Lionel’s hit single All Night Long is now available for purchase and download from the iTunes store to raise funds for those affected by the Christchurch earthquakes and Queensland floods.

Grammy Award nominated producer RedOne - known as ‘the man behind Lady Gaga’ - also donated his time to the track, contributing irresistible club beats and smooth synthesizer effects to give the classic hit a modern twist and fresh new sound.

Plus, in what is set to be an unforgettable concert highlight, the two chart-topping stars will also perform the song live at all shows on their upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand starting in New Zealand on March 18.

Lionel jumped at the chance to help those in Australia and New Zealand affected by these multiple natural disasters.

“The floods and earthquakes have caused damage on a scale not seen in our lifetime. I can think of no better use for one of my most successful copyrights than to help raise needed funds for the people of Australia and New Zealand. The people of these countries have been very good to me over the course of my career and I welcome the opportunity to return the kindness.”

“Music is meant to lift the spirit of mankind. There will always be the appropriate avenue for sombre reflection on what was lost in these disasters, however, I chose All Night Long because it will give people a reason to donate and celebrate the good times ahead instead of just dwelling on the past.”

Guy Sebastian said “Being offered the tour with Lionel is a real honour but getting to record with him is truly humbling. He is a legend and ‘All Night Long’ is one of his greatest songs and biggest hits so I'm still pinching myself. I hope people get behind it and support the appeals that the money is going to.”

Lionel Richie’s original composition ‘All Night Long (All Night)’ from his second solo album Can’t Slow Down was a smash hit in the 80s. The single peaked at #1 on Billboard Pop, R&B and Adult Contemporary charts as well as #1 on the ARIA Singles chart.

100% of proceeds from the sale of the single in Australia will be donated to the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal. 100% of proceeds from the sale of the single in New Zealand will be donated to the New Zealand Government Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.

The single is available now to purchase and download from the iTunes stores in Australia and New Zealand.

Lionel Richie and Guy Sebastian tour Australia and New Zealand from March 18 to April 6 with tickets on sale now.

COLLARBONES

COLLARBONES
Release new single
Don Juan

Electronica duo Collarbones are back with ‘Don Juan’, the first single taken from their debut album Iconography.

Set for release on 18 March 2011 via Two Bright Lakes / Remote Control, Iconography is an assured debut, full of confidence and brimming with ideas that pull in diverse influences from the experimental to the mainstream.

Travis Cook (Cyst Impaled) and Marcus Whale (Scissor Lock) formed Collarbones over the internet in late 2007, and within a few short weeks they had committed to a long-term music-making relationship. Since then they’ve divided time between Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne, playing shows with the likes of Samiyam, making mix tapes, covering Justin Bieber with great fondness and releasing the Pitchfork adored single ‘Beaman Park’ in 2010.

Iconography is an artefact of its mode of production, pieced together over the Internet. The pair shared files until instrumentals were at a point where Whale could lay down elegant RnB laden hooks over the chopped samples and digital soundscapes.

Stay tuned for album launch details!

DON JUAN [mp3 download]
First single taken from debut album Iconography

"A smooth stuttering jam..." Pitchfork

"Collarbones sure have a knack for making beautiful little monuments out of the otherwise transient noises that crisscross the ether" Mess & Noise

"Collarbones' minimalistic approach fits somewhere in sound between Yeasayer and Fuck Buttons, being two-man project covered in laptops and sample decks" Drum Media Sydney

"Warm beats, chiming effects and soulful vocal harmonies" Inpress, Time Off, Drum Media Sydney

"Collarbones is an Aussie electronic-experimental duo that understands how to sprinkle sunshine and good summer vibes through the use of chopped up and sampled vocals that would make Dam-Funk proud” Asian Man Dan

ED KUEPPER (WITH MARK DAWSON)
PLAY THE CLASSICS

With a recent run of sold-out solo shows under his belt, Ed Kuepper is pleased to announce a March tour this time featuring his former sparring-partner Mark Dawson (on drums) as they re-imagine the Kuepper classics: Electrical Storm and Today Wonder.

Electrical Storm was Kuepper’s first solo album recorded in early 1985 shortly after the dissolution of Laughing Clowns. Musically a departure from his earlier bands (the original Saints and Laughing Clowns), Electrical Storm proved to be the most raw and stripped back recording of Kuepper’s long career and featured some of his most enduring songs including the title track, 'Car Headlights’ and ‘Rainy Night’. Lyrically it was more straight forward, yet with the songs seemingly interconnected, its foreboding atmosphere is lightened up with glimpses of Kuepper’s trademark humour such as the musical quote from the Spiderman cartoon show in ‘When the sweet turns sour’.

Today Wonder was the album that began Kuepper’s wrecking ball-like prolific recording stretch in the 1990s. Recorded and mixed live in the studio over two days in early 1990, it features only Kuepper on effects-laden acoustic guitar and vocals, with Mark Dawson on drums and cardboard box. Kuepper described the sound at the time as “ambient rockabilly” and stated more recently that it was the album that enabled everything after it. Today Wonder draws on a host of Kuepper’s earliest influences and incorporates them into something new and adventurous. Several covers become originals and originals become covers in a seamless blend which still sounds unique to this day.

Tickets for the Kuepper/Dawson shows are on-sale now.

Before all that, though, Kuepper will appear in solo mode as special guest to Grinderman at their Sydney & Melbourne legs of their Australian Big Day Out tour. You can never have enough Kuepper.

BLISS N ESO
LAUNCH INNOVATIVE TOUR CAMPAIGN

Sydney’s Bliss N Eso, a group that has long been at the forefront of the digital media game, have launched a campaign which enables their fans to decide the route of their next national tour.

It’s an unusual move for a band of their size, who last year completed the highest ever selling tour by an Australian hip-hop act, headlined some of the biggest festivals in the country and their latest album, Running on Air debuted at #1 in August this year.

Before becoming an all-conquering juggernaut, they built their fanbase through a combination of online promotion (in the ‘MySpace era’) and a never-ending touring schedule. In more recent years, they’ve focused touring internationally and in capital cities, but they’ve decided that it’s time to pay homage to the smaller towns once again.

The band have utilised a Facebook sharing application which enables entrants to gather the troops on their own personal page, amplifying the reach of their 200,000 fans to an infinite number of Australian Facebook users. Within 48 hours of launching, the competition had drawn tens of thousands of votes from across the country, and around the world.

As of Thursday 2pm AEST, the top five poll voters consisted of Wagga Wagga, the Sunshine Coast, Mount Gambier, the Blue Mountains and Sydney – making only one of them a capital city. Seemingly the more rural areas are seizing their opportunity to bring an act of Bliss N Eso’s size to their doorstep. The competition ends at 10pm AEST on Wednesday 8th December, with the winners announced on that Friday.

Competition link: www.blissneso.com/vote

Bliss N Eso have just released Reflections, the new single off their latest album – Running on Air. The upcoming festival season sees them play at the sold-out Southbound Festival on NYE before they take to the main stage at the (also sold-out) national Big Day Out tour.

BELLES WILL RINGANNOUNCE TOUR SUPPORTS

Blue Mountains-based rock-and-rollers Belles Will Ring are gearing up to launch their new single Come North With Me Baby, Wow across the East Coast. The band will be supported by dreamy acousmatics Guineafowl and exciting new-wavers Magnetic Heads.

Available as a digital EP via iTunes now, Come North With Me Baby, Wow is a catchy and timely spring soundtrack, ready for a road trip along any strip of coast. Recorded in the band’s familiar setting of the Blue Mountains with front-man Liam Judson once again at the production helm, Come North With Me Baby, Wow features Belles Will Ring’s distinct textures of jangling guitars and harmonies, and the introduction of a dusty mariachi brass section.

The single is accompanied by beautiful B-side Old Man Tomorrow, which features, for the first time, Lauren Crew on lead vocals, and a remix of Come To My Village by Cloud Control’s Alister Wright – a reciprocated collaboration following Liam Judson’s production role of Cloud Control’s ARIA nominated debut record.

Lyrically, Come North With Me Baby, Wow connects to the predominate themes on the bands second LP (set for release in early Autumn 2011 via Remote Control), exploring the concepts of escape in various forms.

"A beautiful intertwining pop band of style and substance. A just-restrained enough mariachi brass band pops its head around the corner at times underscoring counterpoint vocals - between those added elements, what was great becomes glorious. This album, which seems an inordinately long time in coming, should be the making of them." Drum Media Sydney

US ROCK LEGENDS THE DOOBIE BROTHERS RETURN TO AUSTRALIA

There's no disputing the unparalleled legacy of The Doobie Brothers, in March 2011, Australian audiences will have the chance to see them take the stage in a string of live and intimate theatre shows.

Their tour begins on Friday 18th March in Melbourne at the Palais Theatre, before heading west to Perth on Tuesday 22nd March at Burswood Theatre. As one of the most popular California pop/rock bands of the 70's, The Doobie Brothers evolved from a mellow, post-hippie boogie band to a slick, soul-inflected pop outfit by the end of the decade. Along the way, the group racked up a string of gold and platinum albums, along with a number of radio hits like Listen to the Music, Black Water and China Grove lacing their country-rock stylings with an enjoyable dash of funk.

Today, the band's already extensive palette of sounds comes full circle with their latest release World Gone Crazy (Shock Records). In a sense, World Gone Crazy is an analogy for the Doobie Brothers as a whole, of which the BBC has said 'The first Doobie Brothers album for ten years is a time capsule from the Nixon/Ford era.' With founding members Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons, and 30 year-plus veterans John McFee and Michael Hossack, the Doobies have perfectly honoured the band's legacy with an offering that grows in unexpected new directions.

The Doobie Brothers are one of those enduring worldwide favourites. Unofficially celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, there doesn't seem to be any sign of slowing down for a group that produced, and still continues to play one of the most diverse and celebrated catalogues of rock music.

Don't miss your chance to see this unforgettable show.
