SWEET DISPOSITION SINGLE LAUNCHES

The Temper Trap

Respected Melbourne four piece The Temper Trap return to the live front to celebrate the release of their latest single, Sweet Disposition, taken from their forthcoming debut album. Recently recorded in Melbourne with esteemed UK producer Jim Abbiss (Massive Attack, DJ Shadow, Arctic Monkeys) the record’s rich and sophisticated soundscapes are nothing short of epic.

The band have emerged from the recording session as a tight knit creative force, producing a dynamic single that is a giant leap from their earlier EP of two years ago and undeniably delivers on all of their promise.

The single launches are the beginning of a massive twelve months ahead for the boys with a busy summer touring schedule of festivals and overseas shows confirmed.

The Temper Trap will have a limited edition 12" available at these shows with remixes from such underground luminaries as Curtis Vodka (Bjork, Silversun Pickups, Kid Sister) and Pocketknife (Spank Rock, David Bowie, Feist, Sufjan Stevens) for this release.

The Basics Get Back (LINK)

July 23rd 2008 23:26
Melbourne band THE BASICS have thus-far made a living out of revisiting the music of yesteryear, but now they're doing a retrospective of their own by reissuing Get Back, their little known debut album from 2002, remastered and repackaged as an hors d'oeuvre of sorts to THE BASICS upcoming new recordings.

The Basics

Before a larger national tour later in the year THE BASICS will be celebrating the reissue by dusting off their jackets, polishing their boots and embarking on an East Coast tour throughout August to reacquaint those fans with their stomping sound.

The band, which played their first gigs under the name The Big Nothing and then The Big Something, officially became known as THE BASICS in early 2002. Wally De Backer (now also doubling as the human face of Gotye), Kris Schroeder
and Michael Hubbard recorded the cheekily titled GET BACK, an album of all original songs with heart and influence worn proudly on the sleeve (Hubbard, now of Downhills Home, left the group in mid 2004 and was replaced by Tim Heath).

GET BACK was knocked over from go to whoa in six days; four recording, two mixing, and a quick three hour mastering session. And now, six years after the fact, that prospect is now a reality. The original 1000 CDs sold out long ago, and before the release of new material that will see THE BASICS finally progress into territory they can shamelessly call their own, the time seems right to stop and take a look back at their humble beginnings.

GET BACK will be released on August 2nd through MGM Distribution and available at all good record stores and of course, iTunes.
